As a red headed white girl (who is also surprisingly fluent in Spanish), I always love it when I walk into a Mexican food spot and they greet me in Spanish, because 9 times out of 10, that means their food is gonna be fire and this place did NOT disappoint. The guisada was everything I dreamed it could be and more. In fact, I’ll probably dream about it tonight. Annnnnd I judge places on their refried beans very seriously. If they don’t make my inner Mexicana start to figuratively dance a cumbiq, I won’t come back, and let me just say I will DEF come back to eat here. Oh and the hubbs loved his enchiladas verdes también
Food was okay. It wasn't amazing, but I have no complaints about it. The carne guisada was good. The waitress was so-so. She didn't speak English, which is understandable, but she couldn't understand it very well either. So there was a language barrier. She also set my coffee down pretty hard and it spilled. It was like she didn't notice and walked off so we cleaned it up. There wasn't much friendliness going on. Anyway, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. For some people they might have a much better experience. It's worth a try.
Small, clean, comfortable, unassuming place. Wonderful, very friendly, energetic, helpful waitresses. Most excellent, flavorful,, generous servings of mexican food. Yes sir, yes ma'am, I love this place. 1027 W. Military Dr., San Antonio. Fri-Sat 6a-11p,. Sun 7a-10p, Mon-Thur 6a-10p.
