4/13/22 Came here for dinner with my sister. Food was delicious, but service was slow. I think it’s due to the delivery service they have. We had the Bora Bora sushi, Philadelphia roll and fried rice. It was great sushi for being at the riverwalk and walking distance of our hotel. I would come again if I was in the area craving sushi.
I wish I could remember the names of the rolls we had, but sorry. I can describe my favorites, though. One roll we really enjoyed was wrapped around the outside with shaved cucumber. The inside was salmon with a piece of shrimp in the center. Positively delicious. The spider roll (soft shell crab) was very good. Another favorite at the table was basically a California roll with fried crawfish and a spicy sauce on top. This was a big hit at the table. Spicy, but wonderful. The best one we had, though, was something like a shrimp roll tempura battered and deep fried. Served with a spicy, tangy, creamy white sauce that was kind of like a tartar sauce, but much much better. It was everyone's favorite. So good.
I found this restaurant searching for something other than Tex-Mex for once. And I’m so glad I did! I started with an order of Shishito peppers, a generous serving with a grilled lemon on the side. The best shishitos I have ever had. Packed with flavor. I also got a rainbow roll which was equally phenomenal. The service was great and I felt very comfortable being a solo diner. I’m so glad I came here and will definitely be back!
Wow! What a find! It took us forever to find this place and they were closing in 20 min when we arrived, but they welcomed us in! We ordered 5 rolls and each one was delicious! The flavor combinations were so fresh and unique!
Really good! The place was clean, the service great! I had one of their signature drinks, very refreshing. We had a bunch of appetizers and we shred some dinners. Very good.
I do not understand all the breathless reviews. This place was adequate and no more The high point of the meal was the miso. It had depth of flavor and was some of the best i have ever had. However, the rolls simply did not live up to the soup. Two of our rolls were not tightly wrapped and came apart when we ate them. The nori was too thick and was frankly chewy, making the whole experience of eating something of a chore. The ratio of fish to rice was off The rice was slightly dry. Of the rolls, only the Oaklawn came through at a high level. The variously flavored masago ere very creative and unexpected. But otherwise, eh. The ikura negiri were under-filled and the eggs were smaller than they should have been, and lacked both the briny intensity and creamy texture of top uality roe. Frankly, if this is considered the apex of San Antonio sushi, I can see why this is a meat eaters town...
Service was completely amazing! This is the best place for sushi in San Antonio! The fusion is so futuristic, this is the restaurant to experience superior sushi and fusion cocktails. You must patron this establishment. They give you water in a frosted glass! I was today years old to receive a frosted glass with water in it! Visit this place, the staff was engaging and so fun to talk with. This is a must for a San Antonio downtown visit!
Food was good, service was slow. They have a gluten free menu and soy sauce so giving 4 stars instead of 3. Erica was trying to get our food and drinks to us faster but her staff were not very cooperative - mainly the chefs. Willing to go back again but hopefully the next time we won't have to wait so long to get simple sashimi. A lot of other orders from tables that arrived later than us were going out before ours.
Sushi Zushi was just down the block from the hotel I was staying at, location is great maybe a couple blocks down from the Alamo, and relatively near the Riverwalk. First of all, the service was great the waiter was very attentive (some might think a bit too much) but I'm not complaining he was great. I got the Delicato, my friend got the Bora Bora and you could taste the freshness of the roll, it was super yummy. I also got a "Joy Chelada' which given that I loooove micheladas I thought it was a safe choice among their expansive cocktail menu. However, their house mix tasted too fishy to me. It almost tasted like the soup in the pictures below, but with tomato. Anyway the experience and vibe of the place is very enjoyable and I will most definitely come back to Zushi in the future if I am around. Recommend.
Sushi was ok though nothing special. Tea wasn't hot, a dirty plate was provided, and we had to remind them about a dessert we ordered as we were leaving. They were nice enough to pack it to go. Friendly staff but not a fantastic food experience.
