I have been eating here for many years but no more. The food has been declining, smaller portions since covid closure and today I picked up food to go. Not only did they raise prices (which i get alot of places have due to increasing cost) but to charge an additional 2.5% of your bill for paying with a debt or credit card is absurd. Thats the price a business pays for doing business not the customer. Ill find another Chinese place.

Owner/manager abusing ADA standards and the law so he doesn’t have to walk far to go inside. I have zero respect for any human that thinks they are above those with disabilities. Completely despicable, there were spots next to it he could have parked in.**response to their reply:It doesn’t matter if he used it to drop off product in the restaurant, handicap spots are only for those with placards; not lazy folks trying to save 4 steps. There were other legal spots for him to park in. Again, this is nothing but pure disrespect for those with disabilities. Any one who knowingly uses those spots in any shape or form are putting themselves above those who need them. And to make matters worse, you did it in front of your own business. Your own patrons couldn’t use that spot to come in and eat. Pathetic.

I used to loooove this place. It was the only Chinese restaurant I found with an authentic menu and everything on that menu was delicious! But I went in today to find they no longer serve that menu...only the Americanized Chinese food. I tried a few dishes anyway since I was there, and they were ok but nothing special like before. The fried rice used to be good too, but now it's bland with barely any veggies or egg in it. It's just like any old American Chinese restaurant now. I'm seriously so disappointed to lose one of my favorite places to eat in San Antonio. I have no reason to continue eating here anymore.

My wife and I have been coming to Phoenix Cafe dine in or take out, for years. We love they have an authentic menu. And food has always been excellent for a fair price. Last night, a friend of ours joined us at Phoenix, sign on the door ( diningroom closed, take out only) This has happened to us several times before. We understand that COVID effected their staffing. But you can't run a business this way either. The owners really need to get their act together. Before they go out of business. All I can say, we went to another Asian restaurant and spent a fair amount somewhere else.

Chinese food is usually a safe bet but, the atmosphere in a restaurant also makes the dining experience. There is some tension in the kitchen tonight. Maybe it will pass. At least the prices are low.

My husband and I loved this restaurant pre-Covid.We have recently gone and this place has seriously gone downhill. Our food was cold - appetizers were ordered and came out after the entree. After we got through service, my 8 year old needed to use the restroom and it was utterly disgusting. This reflects on how clean the kitchen is - so obvious - we will not go back. Also heard the owner speak to one of his fellow employees and he was so rude and very disrespectful in his tone - this is why they don’t have good workers.Horrible experience! So dissapointed!

Excellent every time very fast service

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!Extremely rude staff! From the moment we walked in, the lady had a huge attitude with us. Language barriers are manageable but this lady was difficult to work with, seemed like she was really annoyed when you asked questions about their plates, and then told me they didn’t have what I wanted. I ended up trying to order the pork chow mein and she seemed to not be sure of what I wanted so I pointed to the exact item on my menu and she ended up saying “that plate is for men, the lo mein is for the young girls.” I wasn’t too sure what that meant but I ended up not ordering anything and picking from my boyfriends plate. At the end we had some issues with payment as the prices on the menu were the not prices she was charging us. When we tried to correct it she began to yell at us and told us she doesn’t care if we ever go back.Safe to say that we will never go back!!!

quick service, good food!

I hate to share this review, but felt it was important to do so.The food was tough and the place kind of dilapidated. My egg roll had a tiny piece of glass or clear rock. When I informed them of this they did nothing about it. A show of concern or apology would be appropriate as I almost broke my tooth.I wasn't and am not looking for a lawsuit, just a bit of decency as it was a scary experience.I will never be going back again.
