I don't usually have to leave bad reviews.I wish I could've left no stars this time.I haven't gone to Pei Wei in a while. It used to be one of my kid's and my favorite places to eat some quick and great tasting Chinese food. However, while the menu appears to be the same as it was the last time, the food is not and the "restaurant" isn't either. It started with a young man who took our order, who in the name of efficiency, spoke very fast, like a robot, under his breath, looking down at the register, while he did all of this.I had to ask him several times, to repeat his questions, as they were barely audible and the words couldn't be understood, oh, and I have perfect hearing and the restaurant wasn't loud.I should've known that something was not right, as we were used to going to eat there, and there usually was barely a place to sit and also a customary line. This time, we were the only people in line, and there were about three tables that were occupied by customers. We received our receipt, went to sit down, as we walked towards our usual seat, we noticed that the rear wall decor had been changed. They had taken away the great Coke soda machine that they used to have, and removed all of the hot sauce jars that they used to have, which customers could take to the tables. They also got rid of the metal silverware, and the tables and seats were covered in food droppings, crumbs, and greasy residue. We wiped down the seats and table, as best as one can, with a dry napkin. We received our food quickly, in to-go containers. They had apparently gotten rid of their beautiful stoneware, and opted to use one time use plastic and cardboard containers. A perfect choice for the environment. The portions now are much smaller.I used to eat half of the food I ordered and used to have to take the rest home for later, as the portions were substantial. The food was thrown into my kid's cardboard container without care, as all of the flaps were dirty and they couldn't be folded down without getting one's hands dirty. We ordered an appetizer, which was awesomely contaminated by someone throwing two sauce packets into the food container, touching the food, (so whatever dirt was in the box containing the packets and the person putting them into the to go container must've also used his or her hands and so got the packets dirty that way as well). Now, the food I received was bland and mediocre at best. It tasted like Chinese food, that any individual could've cooked at home, who had never cooked Chinese before.I have eaten better Chinese food from the HEB frozen food section. So next time my kid and I feel like eating Pei Wei, we will stay the Hey Away from Pei Wei.P.S.: The front door does not close, so it allows flies into the "restaurant" at their leisure.

It seems that the quality of food has been going downhill for a while. The food used to be really good. The last two times the food has just been awful. Tonight our food was delivered by DoorDash and it was cold by the time it arrived. In addition, the rice was undercooked. It tasted chalky. I don't think we will order from this place again. The service tonight was absolutely horrible. Our food was supposed to be here at 738. It was delivered almost 40 minutes late. The food was cold and gross because of that. So thank you for ruining our dinner.

I miss Pei Wei! I am from Houston and they been closing them around my area, we found this one in San Antonio and we had to go. Food was great, we love thei fried rice, noodles and edamame!!

My house special chicken was pretty good but my fried rice was extremely undercooked and inedible. My boyfriend asked for noodles with his firecracker chicken and they were thick, unseasoned, and his dish had no sauce or anything to coat them in and only a few pieces of soggy chicken. So I spent 20 something dollars on food we couldn’t eat. I know pei wei as a good place but this location has been disappointing on 2 separate occasions. I know they have recipes and cook times to follow, so it shouldn’t be so bad.

The place seems to be understaffed, I only saw one lady doing pick-up orders and taking food to patrons in the restaurant. She was friendly but was trying to do everything by herself. The food was honestly not great for the price, we ordered the family meal with vegetable lo mein, Sweet and Sour chicken, Kung Pao chicken, 4 crab Rangoons and Thai donuts. The sweet and sour chicken was tasty but for a family of 4 there were maybe 5-6 smaller pieces. The Kung Pao chicken had good flavor but once again it was mostly rice and very little chicken. The ragoons were fried dough with barely any cream cheese filling. It’s unlikely we will be back. :-(

I used to come to this place all the time. My husband and I dined in last night we ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. The portions were very small. So much smaller than they used to be. Very disappointed. We left still hungry and having to pick up food on our way home just fill our stomachs. Quality of food and portions have sadly gone down.

I understand that it’s New Year’s Eve, and that many restaurants are understaffed, but my husband said it wasn’t busy at all. We both ordered extra vegetables on our entrees; I only got three broccoli crowns, which I’m thinking is not extra, and my husband didn’t get any at all, even though we were charged for them. We ordered veggie spring rolls and got pork egg rolls instead. What’s the point of offering customization on your site when placing an order if no one is going to pay attention to it?

We ordered for delivery. Teriyaki chicken with brown rice and Mongolian beef with brown rice. The teriyaki had orange chicken as the meat and the Mongolian beef was so dry and overcooked. The flavors were good but that was diminished by the protein in the dishes. I will admit the egg rolls we ordered as appetizers were good. It was not a delivery issue because the driver was there before our order was finished being packaged so all I can think is inattentive preparation. I expected more because every time I’ve eaten in person every dish was delicious. I’ll probably not go back because I expect consistency whether I’m person or delivery.

The service qas very fast however my wife didn't care for her ora ge chicken and i thought my cauliflower fried rice was rather bland. The lettuce wrap was great. They are still serving everything on to go dishes

Haven’t been to Pei Wei since before the pandemic. Was pretty disappointed that we were told it was take out only. Would have liked eating outside, such a beautiful night. Guess we’re still eating at home. Such a shame.
