We’ll the employees are having a great time, so much so that they ignore the customers. Probably not coming back.
Mama at Mamas! They just remodeled everything and was expecting a good meal but ordered the meatloaf with onion rings and Mac and cheese and mom got the breakfast for dinner. The food came cold so sent it back alongside my mom cold waffle! They bring back moms and eggs were raw and they bring me back onion rings but no meatloaf which comes 5 minutes later. The pre- fabricated meatloaf from the freezer is again cold but they run out of Mac and cheese so I wanted Texas Toast but kitchen is closed on Monday at 3 pm so don't get anything else but another cold pre-fab meatloaf. Don't ever go here it suck
Well done! New owners, new looks, new menus, and WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT! This upscale-casual restaurant has a playful vibe and great food served in ample portions. Works for Sunday lunch / brunch, dates, or even casual business meetings (though it is a little loud for that for me). Kitchen is pretty open so you may be able to see what's going on in there if seated near it. Also has a lovely outdoor space -- though planes flying overhead may disrupt part of the ambiance. There are outlets under the bar if you need to do a little coffee shop work or reinvigorate your phone's battery. Full bar.
Home style perfection ?Good food, 10/10 warm atmosphere, great bar.My family's first visit since its remodel, and it's a welcome change. Inside is just like home, Mama's Cafe is as sentimental and warm- and all of the food is exactly what it should be, things you would eat at home done BEAUTIFULLY and slightly elevated. The menu was simple, fresh, and trendy. Good for a date night or for a family treat because all of the food is something the kids will read, recognize, and eat.The patio was updated- and it's absolutely beautiful. Picturesque, romantic, quiet, and inviting. We listened to the rush of a rock wall water feature, and while I missed the jukebox feeling from before the remodel- it was still cozy and accepting of the sounds any well behaved children make. Almost every table had a small child, it felt like, and couldn't have been more welcoming and teeming with life.Cocktail, Stormy Night, my wife and I ordered was the best we've had in ages. We are both former bar tenders, and really appreciated the presentation, freshness, balance of flavors- and *correct pour, delivered by the bar back. Just. Right. ?✅️Professional. Bartender. We're headed back for date night, I have to try a "Boozy Coffee". Thank you all!?
The menu has many great options to choose from with large portions. I really enjoyed the food! ??The design of the interior is super nice! It’s a great cafe with an open kitchen. I would like to sit in the back area next time because I like quieter places when eating.
While on vacation we struck out at "IDA CLAIRES" because it was not what we were looking for. Google suggested mama's & we are glad we did. Since it was near noon when we showed up they notified us that there will be a 10 minute wait. Then when we were seated the had a great breakfast selection. I ordered the caramel latte (which I was charged a $1 for adding the caramel syrup into it) coming to a total of $5. My husband ordered a strawberry shake ( Also he was charged a dollar for the syrup) Also the waitress informed us that all their shakes are freshly made ( and she was not lying, extremely delicious! I ordered their waffle that come with bacon and eggs. Mu husband ordered the "helluva mess" meal. Both plates were yummy. My husband just wished his meal was a bigger portion.
Multiple staff members were super friendly. The food was great and they have a lot of gluten-free options for my wife including chicken fried steak and gravy! She was so happy. This is going to be a new regular spot in our rotation.
BRO!! Mamas is amazing. We had a very late lunch, so we had the space mostly to ourselves. There’s a lot to draw the eye, not least of which is their show stopping diner fare.I wanted very much to order with my stomach and not my brain after reading over their whole menu.I decided on a meatloaf sandwich with their homemade biscuit, while my friend ordered their variation on a club sandwich and a stick-to-your-insides side of mac’n’cheese. And although happy hour didn’t start til 3pm, we couldn’t say no to hibiscus mimosas and one of San Antonio’s best lavender libations.Mamas cafe has absolutely skyrocketed to too 3 of my favorite San Antonio restaurants.
Haven't been here since they closed back when covid began. It's a different experience now and some of the old classic menu items are no more.Prices went up a little but it seems but most of their portion sizes are on the larger size. Expect to pay about $14-16 for a meal.Went in on a Sunday with my family.Service was good and the food came out very fast! As far as taste, my family and I though it was just okay. Nothing too impressive but it didn't taste bad. I'm not really getting that home cooked Mama feel as I did before they remodeled.I'd say at least give them a shot and see what you think.
We visited refreshed & reopened Mama's Cafe Saturday evening and enjoyed delicious, fresh dishes from the past. Famous fried mushrooms. Chicken fried steak & gravy with 2 sides of broccoli & creamed spinach. Hamburger steak with onion gravy with mashed potatoes & green beans. We ended our meal with Cappy's famous warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Reasonably priced great food and enjoyable evening.
