5 STAR RESTAURANT AND FOODMy sister & brother in law took me and my daughter to eat at this amazing restaurant while we were visiting San Antonio.I’m from New Mexico and have eaten at so many different Mexican restaurants that claimed it was authentic Mexican food and honestly its really not even close. Los Barrios restaurant by far is THE BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD I’ve had in a restaurant! Ever.My Hispanic grandmother and mother taught me how to make fantastic Mexican food growing up. With the exception of my families dishes this was AS GOOD AS our home cooked meals!I have never been impressed by any Mexican restaurant before but this is one restaurant you will be happy you went. The food is outstanding! It is REAL MEXICAN FOOD. I could tell everything was homemade from the tortillas down to the salsa. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. We didn’t even wait long for our food to be served. Prices are decent too.If you’re ever in San Antonio please stop by for a meal. I promise you that you will be served a fantastic dinner all made in house.*I am not being paid or compensated in any way for giving my honest opinion. I just want to share this wonderful place for anyone who craves and wants real Mexican food at decent prices.Thank you Los Barrios for one of the best dinners I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at a restaurant.

It’s sad for us because the food is so good, but we’re not going back again. The Los Barrios on Blanco is filthy. The front facade hasn’t been cleaned in decades. The interior is just as grimy. This place needs a good deep clean and some fresh paint but despite this we kept coming back. The reason we’re through with this place is because they are are now charging $1.99 for a 5 cent basket of chips, which has always been considered a San Antonio tradition in Mexicans restaurants. This is completely unnecessary and offensive considering the owners won’t even clean this restaurant up. They waxed the floors six months ago and still have paper signs on the walls about the floors being waxed. Everyone appreciates a clean modern bathroom. You won’t find it here. Great food, bad everything else.

Went there because they used to have best Milanesa in town. (Breaded beef skirt) with home fries, avocados, tomatoes, lemon and rice. Milanesa paler thin. No Flavor. Lemon helped a little. Enjoyed sliced home maxes fried potatoes. Avocado, tomato Got big mound tasteless Mexican rice that I did not eat. Margarita was only fair. Must ask for chips n salsa. Waiter advised me they were very busy but place half empty?

Los Barrios is very popular with the locals in San Antonio. Visitors may not notice the building as they maintain a low-key appearance. Once inside, it's clear this is no small venture. There are three large dining areas, plus a large outdoor patio dining section. The entry foyer is ornate with Talavera style tiling and some gift-shop items. The dining areas are clean & neat, with a very open feeling due to the high ceilings and wall of windows to the patio dining area. The menu is large, with most Mexican dish you would expect. Prices are moderate, leaning to the high side but not excessive. My local friends rave about the place, and this was our second attempt to go, the first visit nixed due to the long wait time. The food was good. Our waitress disappeared after taking our order and never visited again until we had to hunt her down for the check, even though the place wasn't half full at this time. This is a good place to take out-of-towners who may not enjoy one of the cozy smaller mom & pop Mexican restaurants which are all around town.

The place is ok, needs maintenance. The food and drink are awful. I ordered a sampler, most of it tasted pre-made or frozen heated on microwave. Guacamole actually tasted funny, not fresh at all. We also ordered tacos, same with the beef meat, really bad taste. Margaritas were bad, in every aspect. Even the beer was not cold. I don't recommend it.

I only gave 4 stars because we had to pay 1.99 for chips and salsa. The food was good and our server was awesome. I just find it crazy that we had to pay for chips and salsa when every other mexican restaurant gives it complimentary. It was also crazy to me that they offered a complimentary picture of you at the restaurant. We have our own phone to take selfies/pictures. It would be nice to put that expense on giving free chips and salsa. I will say the flour tortillas were amazing as well as the guacamole.

This one only gets three stars for several reasons. The puffy tacos are really good and it was the only thing that was good! Oh, and the ice tea. The portions are tiny, like less then a kids plate for rice and beans the salad on the plate was old and lettuce brown. You can see it in the pics kind of! Same lettuce in the tacos. You are charged .49 cents for cheese if you want it on the tacos. The enchilada sauce is more like a hot dog chili sauce and the enchiladas were the smallest I have ever seen in my life. The server I didn’t get her name but she is why they get the third star. They charge you for chips and salsa 1.99 for a tiny 16oz bowl of chips. I would definitely go here again but only for the puffy taco and tea!

the best Mexican food in town is here; but Why $1.99 for EACH tiny bowl of chips now? You have to be joking what kind of justification is there to not even give refills of the chips after paying $1.99. I can eat the whole little bowl of chips in about two seconds.I’ll put my stars back up to five stars because Los Barrios is the best in town if you guys respond with a good answer to me but I guess I’ll just never be getting chips and salsa again. Been a customer for 34 years here and this is just bs. One giant bag of chips at the store is $1.99. It’s just a couple of fried tortillas

I got a puffy taco.. it was puffy, it had a little meat with my lettuce. Not the best or the greatest but I guess it served it's purpose.. No real taco selection unless you get a plate which seems slightly overpriced for a taco plate. Salsa I received was not great at all. Tasted like just tomato with a few spices...weird Salsa for sure. Chips and queso were great. It's hard to screw that up... thank goodness I had a backup plan. Menu selection was mediocre. Soups were definitely overpriced. I get the whole inflation thing but they kinda went overboard a tad. "No free chips and Salsa at the table due to inflation",said a sign. Mommy, but tortillas are okay? Say what? Couldn't they just fry up their own from their tortillas they give with plates. This place is subpar. Margaritas are alright but are like 11$ or more. Next time...Tomatillos... now that is worth every penny including with inflation. Wow.

very good food thanks .thank you door dash
