We ALWAYS have a pleasant experience with every visit. The service is friendly and attentive and the food is delicious and tastes freshly made. A true test of a Mexican restaurant is their flour tortillas and La Fonda surpassed our expectations. Treat yourself. We promise you won't be disappointed.

The environment was very friendly. However the food was not particularly hot. It was warm, but felt like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. We were a big party, so that may have been the issue.

Very poor quality of food. Service was decent. Prices as expected. We ordered the large fajitas skillet with a combination of chicken and beef. The bottom of the skillet was extremely greasy. The quality of the food was poor at best. The fajitas were tasteless. The rice and beans were not fresh and neither was the guacamole. This is not the same restaurant as the one on Main Street as we thought before our disappointing experience.

New to San Antonio and still in exploration mode to find restaurants to be our regulars. After visiting a dive on the riverwalk last week for Taco Tuesday, we moved "inland" and found La Fonda. Location felt odd next to the airport, but it wasn't bad. Clean looking inside with friendly staff. Chips and salsa was literally the bottom of the bag of chips with crumps. Got two tacos (wife chicken, me beef) with beans and rice. Both left a puddle of oil on the plate. Beans and rice were OK.

My new favorite Tex-Mex place. Better than the deceased La Fonda at Oak Hill/The Rim IMO.The service was great and the food even better. The cheese enchilada was possibly the I've ever had. The rice and beans were delicious. The tamale with chili con carne was perfect. The worst I can say is that the sopapillas were only average - but very big. The dough was a little thinner than I prefer.I look forward to returning.

Dude. The most tender, delicious and meaty beef tacos al carbon I've had in a long time. No chewy fat, no gristle... it was like ribeye fajitas. Excellent! Arthur was our server. Nice guy, good job.

Over rated!

Food was good but lukewarm at best. Server was being very unprofessional complaining about how many tables he had and how it was unfair he got so many at once. Barely came back to check on us and our drinks. Asked four times for a simple glass of water. Didn't bring it till the end of our meal. Kept making faces when we did ask for something. Not a very good first experience

We were in a private dining room for a party. There were about 20 people. First off there was only one server and she was fantastic. She handled everything with ease. There were 2 choices - chili or cheese enchiladas with rice and beans or chicken or beef fajitas with rice, beans, pico and guacamole. I got the cheese enchiladas and hubby got the beef fajitas. Rice and beans were good as were the fajitas. The enchiladas were not so great. The “gravy” was extremely thick and rich and there was way too much cheese. Within minutes the cheese on top congealed and the “gravy” became like glue. It was disappointing. Margaritas were cold, icy and strong just the way they should be.

Great food, margaritas are very good... service is excellent Jose and Rene are great servers.... very polite and pleasant. Always consistent on quality of food.
