Great little restaurant with great food, cooked to order and served in a timely manner. And there is a tree growing through the dining room!
Amazing place! Service was excellent! Our server was Kamryn who displayed awesome customer service and always made sure we were taken care of, Kamryn gives Josephine Street a good name with her demeanor. Food was delicious, flavorful, and served in a timely manner (within 10 minutes). The knife to cut my steak was not sharp enough but I won't take a star away for that because the customer service and food. The parking lot is very close to the restaurant. Very clean and happy atmosphere. The tree in the restaurant gives the place an extra personality. There are a couple of t.v. screens and music played as well. There are tables outside for those who want fresh air. I will definitely go back to this amazing place.
There are dozens of great dinner options in the Pearl area and Josephine's in not one of them. We arrived around 9:30 for a late dinner and the experience was pretty poor from the beginning. The decor is kind of confusing. Is it a family place or a steak house or a kitschy combo with a giant tree in the dining room and mounted game on the walls.Service was not great. We waited a really long time for napkins and utensils but our drinks came out in a reasonable time. Mixed bag.The seating is very crowded. They have packed as many tables as possible in the dining room and that results in being so close to the table next to you that you can't shift off the extremely warped floor boards that make you feel like you're falling off your chair. The food? Meh. The queso and sausage were pretty good but probably would have been better if I'd been given a fork. ?My wife ordered a salad, she's a vegetarian, and it was so soggy with dressing that it was inedible. When I mentioned this to our waitress she said oh that's how they make it and charged us seven bucks for it anyway. Not one bite eaten. Not cool. The steaks? My son got a t-bobe and it was large but just a 4 or 5 of ten on the quality scale. Way too much lemon and not enough butter. When you're planning your next dinner in the Pearl area throw a dart at a map and go wherever it lands on the map. Unless it hits Josephine's. In that case throw another dart.
Okay guys Josephine St restaurant is in my top 3 for one of my favorites in San Antonio. I've been eating here for over 25yrs and the consistency has always been on point. My favorites are the Pork Chops, Steak with Queso, Rib-Eye, Sausage Queso Platter, Bacon Wrapped Filet and so much more. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The atmosphere is great with an old 1930s store market feel which it actually was at one time. The tree in the middle of the restaurant is an eyecatcher for sure. There is an outside patio for those who enjoy outdoor eating. The servers are very attentive and greet customers with lots of friendly smiles. Super Highly Recommended!!! Love this place!!Btw, the ranchero sauce is one of the best I've ever tasted. Who would have ever thought...lol
It is the best chicken fried steak in San Antonio. Don't miss the green beans, they are the best ever. Very fast and friendly service. A must visit.
This place is a hidden gem. Everything we had was delicious! We got the onion ring appetizer. They were HUGE and so crispy and delicious! We also got the queso and chips. No joke the chips were by far the most delicious chips we’d ever eaten. They were slightly puffed and that made them super crispy. They were seasoned perfectly. The queso was good, too, but the chips were the star. We were celebrating our son’s graduation from Air Force basic training, so there were six of us who all ordered different things. Son was craving a steak after basic, and he got the ribeye. He said it was so good it made him want to cry (could have been the fact that he had been eating service food for seven weeks!). I got the filet - wonderful and flavorful. Broccoli was ok. Husband’s green beans were better. Hubby got the chicken fried steak - humongous and tasty. One got burger, one got grilled chicken salad, and one got lunch special. All were pleased and stuffed! Can’t recommend highly enough. Spent about $130 for six.
Great food, drinks & excellent service. Quaint restaurant with a lot of character .
Placed order over the phone and picked up within 10 minutes. Food was hot and fresh. This is one of the best places to get delicious chicken fried steak. Generous portions and good prices.
What a great little place! My steak was outstanding and the broccoli done to perfection. It’s a quirky building but with a warm feel. The staff were super attentive and friendly and accommodating. Good wine list. Best meal of our trip so far.
The burgers are so solidly great! Juicy, big, and delicious! The onion rings and the sides of grilled onions and mushrooms completed the delight. Our server was a true character and took great care of us.
