Me & thee boyfriend decided to spend our 2nd anniversary here & it was amazing from the get go. We had two amazing waiters that were very knowledgeable made great recommendations. Even tried to get us the best out of our night possible. We had the twice fried wings which were amazing. I had the spam fried rice & he had.. I honestly forgot the name lol. Food was all good & the drinks were strong ? definitely recommend
The atmosphere and staff make up for the mediocre food. The food: The Pu Pu platter was tasty, but the entrées were bland(the beefy noodles) or a little gross(it was a sort of peanut noodle dish and I got a huge mouthfull of peanut butter). I'd list what the dishes were by name, but they had a well used paper menu we ordered from and the server indicated the menu was always changing, and he may have been right because all the menu's for this place online do not have anything our menu had. The drinks were tasy. Has a Summer Shanty and it was refreshing. The atmosphere: We were seated in the back, and don't get me wrong, every part of this restaurant is beautiful and has this local hot spot feel...but we were by the bathrooms and could smell urine. Urine smell and food don't mix well. Also there is no parking. You need to park on the side of Alamo and because its such a busy street, chances are high that you'll have to park in the neighborhood behind the restaurant and hoof it.
Pretty good spot for drinks and food. The food is meant to be shared and the servings are pretty decently sized. They have a lot of alcoholic beverages and mixed drinks as well.
Super vibe-y place! Loved the laidback environment and welcoming service. The food choices were fun and unique, cooking up a fusion between Asian and Mexican. Glad to have stopped by!!
One of my favorite Asian restaurant to visit downtown. Simple but delicious. Spam fried rice is a must for me every visit. Tonight we tried the Joe Volcano drink. It did not disappoint ?Our waitress was attentive and continuously checked on us.
Chinese New Years menu was a “Hot Joy”.Always flavorful and setting is always romantic.
This was a cool place. Tiki bar feel with Asian infused food. Man O Man, I had the Beef Albondigas(Mexican Meatballs) w/ Ramen made with brisket and it was delicious. I also tried the Pig Head Carnitas which was good as well. Now, the drinks. During happy hour a majority of all the drinks were 5$ even the shots. Hot Joy makes their own rum in house. I had an Island Boy shot, it was good. I had the Island Mule w/ ginger and it was flavorful. All this on happy hour on the weekend Sat-Sun 12pm-6pm. They also have reverse happy hour as well which I look forward to trying. Highly recommended.
It is tasty and the staff is really nice. HOWEVER, I think there are better places to eat Ramen. The Green Pozole does not looks or either taste nothing like an authentic Pozole.
Food and service were excellent. We ordered the twice fried chicken wings, spam fried rice, pork belly, and fish tacos. Everything was delicious and served family style. The fish tacos (5 mini tacos per order) were a little pricey for 2 pieces of fish nuggets in each taco stuffed with cabbage, but they were tasty. I'm sure the prices are due to the pandemic either way; we'll be back.
Hot Joy is a great hang and place to grub. I haven't eaten or had a drink I didn't enjoy. Atmosphere is very cool great music playing in the restaurant. Friendly staff ,they do get busy so be patient yo!
