Sent my husband for dinner and he came home with an appetizer, The Chicken pieces were so small like baby chick small, The fries were cold, This place is definitely overpriced for the bite size portions they offer. Lesson learned for the $$ I could have gone to my go to Bill Millers and not left my husband and myself still hungry. Rant over . Get it together Gus!!!!
Fried chicken is delicious! The staff is hard-working and helpful and also very friendly. In my opinion, if you have an unpleasant experience at Gus' fried chicken, it is most likely because you may have had a bad day before coming into this establishment. Great work Everyone working the lunch rush today!
Service - 10/10, our waitress had a sense of humor, was attentive, kind, and more than competent.Ambience - average, enjoyable but not stellar.Food:Chicken = above average fried chicken, like a 7.3/10. It was good fried chicken, don't get me wrong. But, world famous? The best? No, that's not it. I would go again with friends to get some good fried chicken. The crispy skin on the chicken was the best part, obviously. But there was nothing extraordinary about the chicken.Sides = beans and potato salad were average.Appetizer = Fried Green Tomatoes were pretty good with the sauce!Desert = pecan pie was pretty good, 8/10!Overall - would recommend to people who want a well rounded fried chicken meal. I would go again if I'm in town and was craving some fried chicken and pecan pie.
Best fried chicken. I go three times a month.
"If you haven't eaten at Gus's, you haven't eaten fried chicken" - this statement is absolutely true! I was amazed by the first bite. The skin was so crunchy, meat was soft and moist. The sides were so good too. I chose fried okra, green and slaw. I love the green the most. The drink comes in a cup that you can keep as souvenir. This place is busy all the time. We waited around 30 minutes to have a table. But service is very fast. If you like fried chicken, you have to try this place.
OMG!! If you like fried chicken, this is a must try!! The motto is “If you haven’t fried chicken at Gus’s, then you haven’t eaten fried chicken”The crust is crispy with a little spice. The flavor is fantastic!! Portions are good, the service is great. The fries are very good, and the cole slaw is sweet. The iced tea is bomb also!!Cool atmosphere, but the parking sucks. You can park in paid parking next door, and they will validate it though.Definitely a MUST try!!
I was expecting this place to be good based on the reviews and was not disappointed. Walked in for dinner (group of 6) and one of the employees immediately came over to move two tables together for us. We sat down and placed our orders within 5 minutes. The sweet tea was good. All of the fried starters were so good! I was impressed by the fried okra - it was the perfect amount of crispy. The chicken was really flavorful with a hint of spice. All of our food was made to order and fresh. If I could give this place a 10/10, I would! Highly recommend checking out this place if you have not already.
Our 1st time here. It was definitely delicious. If you love spicy food then this is the place to go. The chicken was spicy but not overwhelming. The sides and dessert was very delicious. Our server was attentive and on point. I will definitely come back again.
You will eat the chicken fresh from the fryer. You'll tell yourself to stop and wait until it's cooled off, but you won't. It's so good. Even the breast is juicy and flavorful throughout. The fried part is light and crispy. They cook your chicken fresh, so prepare to wait a few mins. Beans and slaw are pretty basic. The mac looked pretty good. Heads up tho- chicken has a good spiciness to it but so do the kids tenders. I'd your kid doesn't like spicy, I'd go with the grilled cheese. Service was great. Very glad I don't live anywhere close to this place cuz I'd be there pretty often. Does get busy, so be prepared.
Great food, but even greater service. When our waitress overheard me complaining about how small the side of greens were (and it was super small, most American comfort/soul food places are known for ample sides) she gave me more collard greens (which were really good by the way) for free as you can see in the cup in the second picture. That was very nice of her.
