We visited Frederick's for Mother's Day brunch and had a wonderful culinary experience. Our service was very good and the food was absolutely scrumptious. A couple of us enjoyed their mimosas. The brussel sprouts were amazing! The others loved their lobster bisque. Our entrees--lamb chops, beef tenderloin--were perfect! And, last but certainly not least, our desserts were out-of-this-world phenomenal! Everyone tried something different. From tiramisu to homemade cherry ice cream, we all delighted in their tasty sweets. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it, in my opinion. Also, Frederick's is a bit hidden in the Alamo Heights area but this hidden gem is definitely worth the trek!
Luncheon portions are creative, original, tasty and good. This is a white tablecloth eatery. Quite busy at lunchtime. Reservations seem to be required. Very small dining area. Bar sitting area is minimum. My thought on all of this......terrific food, but the hostess and server never smiled, and when the wait person took our order, she was curt........no warmth. Server/staff were abrupt. Disappointing to be treated in such an obviously indifferent and cold manner. Very unusual for San Antonio' normally welcoming dining experiences.
We came here today for for the first time today for Easter brunch with our two daughters, ages 8 and 3. While it is an elegant place, we were made to feel perfectly welcomed and the staff were great to our girls. The food was delicious and they both enjoyed their kids chicken and fish entrees, but they LOVED the clam chowder my husband ordered so much that we ordered them their own to share. They devoured it and the 3 year old kept saying “this is the best soup ever” and ate every drop. We had a beautiful family meal for Easter and will definitely be back. It was a wonderful experience all around.
my boys took me to eat there the day after valentines cuz of the crowding yesterday OMGEE !!! I hd the duck it was the best i hv ever had everything was GREAT SRVICE,Food to dye for only 1 jus 1 not enough of thier bread its nice n warm but only 1 per person ❣️
I came here a while back and thought the food was good, now that I think of it; I'd also not eaten all day. So I was delusional due to hunger.Today I came and it was absolutely horrid. Not only did they sit my party at the ONLY wobbly table, but the server we had was awful. He only came by twice. And the time it took us to get his attention was shocking. The food I ordered us took an hour, and my calamari was as tasteful as a piece of cardboard. I asked the sauce to be put on the side of steak dish and instead they drown the steak in it. Also it's very rude how they discriminate against ppl based on how they dress and act.You should treat all guests equally, I'm a paying customer just like everyone else.I've give this place a chance but I won't be coming back here.*The guy who was serving tea and water was honestly the only decent person working there. Not ignoring anyone.
Another recommendation from my friends from the San Antonio forum. Exceptionally good! Number two in my list. Had a terrific crab cake, outstanding Halibut, the duck very crispy and tasty, escargots missing something. Service could be better. But a repeat in my next trip to San Antonio.
Food was delicious. Drinks were fine. Menu had many things I want to try. Service was not great at first, but then our regular waiter took over and he was terrific.
Fancy with great food, and a more expensive dessert menu (like 9 items) than I'd expect given It's standard short menu (about 25 items, including appetizers)It's what you would expect from an expensive restaurant. Hard to locate the entrance though. If you listen to the Googe Maps, you'll have to pass through the building directly to the other side, where there's another parking lot.
One boisterous table overwhelmed the relatively small dining area. Fried calamari with a spicy Thai sauce was a delicious appetizer. Both the beet salad and the Caeser well prepared with very fresh ingredients. Shrimp & scallops over mushroom risotto was delicious. Steak cooked to perfection.
A longtime fan favorite of mine. I highly recommend the glazed ribs, and octopus WOWOW! Frederick’s has maintained the test of time for a reason and look forward to my next visit!
