Please, stay away of this place. The worst restaurant we ever tried. Food was terrible, microwaved, not fresh at all. Super expensive for what it is. There is no choices in here. You sit and will be served with a tea drink and a plate of rice, beans and chicken and a bad quality slice of bread in the top. There is no choices. He never told us that we cannot pay with credit card, so we had to pick up cash in a gas station nearby.

Ok, so this is a tough one to describe! When we first walked in, the first impression wasn’t the greatest. It seemed a little.. dirty maybe? I don’t know if that’s the right word.. like a little worn, table was wobbly, needed a wipe, and other small things. It had the ol’ “hole in the wall” feel to it. The chef and owner seems to run the place, and he is extremely welcoming. He has a pretty strong personality, which is a little too much, but he does grow on you . He talks about his history in Miami and how his buffet reflects Miami food with Peruvian influence. Right after we sat down, he didn’t bring us the menus, he said he knew what to get for our 2 year old, went and got a plate with rice, a chicken drum, and a piece of bread. He did get menus, but kind of pushed for us to experience the buffet with this traditional Miami/Peruvian food.We decided to give it a whirl. He also talked about this juice that he makes that’s a bunch of fruit mixed, it comes with the buffet and you serve yourself. It was actually delicious. You can serve yourself soup, he had spicy seafood, beef and chicken soup. It didn’t actually have much meat in any of them, it was more the flavorful broth that had rice or veggies in them. I didn’t think I’d like it but it was great. When you walk up to the “buffet” area, he basically says you can pick what you want but really urges you to get it the Peruvian way, and yeah, why not. He proceeds to throw all the food on top of each other and throws this juice/sauce all over. Rice and super tender chicken. Pork and some root vegetables.. honestly it was so good ?Overall, it’s the kind of feel this place has. The chef is very personal and you go back because you know his food and personality. It’s not a traditional restaurant experience, he does give that Miami culture vibe. If your really worried about COVID or germs, you probably won’t be the most comfortable. You get the ice form a little dish with a scoop everyone grabs. The salsa people use are just in bowls on the counter that he says to take to the table, etcMy biggest issue is that I went to pay after and he said the machine was down and asked if I could go get cash at the convenient store down the street. Looking at some other reviews, it looks like he just wants to take cash. Idk what would have happened if we just had credit cards. He needs to put a sign on the window or something as it really seems kind of deceitful. His bill or receipt was just writing out the costs on a paper.Besides that, we had a fun experience and will probably go back!

Salsas are probably in the top 10 in San Antonio!!! Food is good enough to back it up, but nothing life changing. Service is as friendly and setting as humble as everyone else says.

We arrived at 5:00 not knowing that the restaurant closed at 4. The chef greeted us and asked us if we were going to eat there. We said yes and he told us we were going to be the only guests because he was closing. The restaurant, in our opinion, was very dirty. For having been closed for an hour it should have been quite clean and organized. Apparently he offers a buffet as it was still set up. Again, it was very dirty to us. He offered for us to serve ourselves soup. Neither one of us liked the soup and my wife found a vegetable sticker in her soup. We had no options of a meal or any kind of menu. He simply brought out two plates of food. We were served a quarter chicken leg, a side of pork, rice and beans and fried plantain (At least we think that is what is was.) The chicken was good, the rice and beans were ok, but the pork was completely hard and dry. When it was time to leave he told us we had to pay cash. We had a restaurant.com coupon that he wouldn't accept. He should have told us up front that we would have to to pay cash. Thankfully we had some money. When we told him about the sticker and the pork, he immediately bragged to us about all his awards as a chef and said it didn't matter that we had a bad experience. According to him he has hundreds of clients every day. We couldn't get over his arrogance and couldn't wait to get out of his restaurant. We would say it was probably our worst experience ever and biggest waste of money.

The food was delicious and a great variety. Waldito made sure there was a enormous amount of food on my plate. Great job!!I will return.

This place is some of the best food in San Antonio. You get a true sense of authenticity as soon as you walk in the door. Chef Waldo is a wonderful and funny man who has amazing skills in the kitchen. His ceviche is solidly the best I’ve ever had. A funny moment was when Chef Waldo brought me some leche de tigre. I said isn’t this good for a hangover? And he replied, “it is also an aphrodisiac… or some call it an aphrodisiac, I call it child support!” I will certainly be back every chance I get and will recommend Chef Waldo’s restaurant to anyone who will listen!

An amazing soul this man is .Come by or take out it hands down some of the best food in San Antonio.

OMGosh!!! The food was AMAZINGLY delicious and the service was good too. Their buffet had everything you wanted plus dishes you didn't know you needed. I will be coming back, for sure! Yum!! ?

Unfortunately really disliked this place. Looking at menu was really excited but arrived at a buffet only lunch. No offer of anything even other things to drinks. Chicken was ok but the rices, beans soups… far below average. I was disappointed. Shame because i loved the idea of this place.Edit: Also surprise bill was $20 to which we did not tip (since we tasted food and stopped eating) and somehow he charged $23.

One of the best peruvian ceviches I ever had! The place is very small and basic but Waldo will treat you super nice. Prices are good too!
