Overall a disappointment . Really expected a better experience after seeing all the good reviews. The building itself is cool, I love all the decor inside. The food on the other hand, terrible. It’s way over priced. It’s lazy cooking. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. They served me what seemed to be a breaded frozen chicken pattie sliced and topped with raw , dried out carrots and onion. They couldn’t be bothered to toss it in a pan with some oil for a few minutes. The fried rice was bland , no veggies or soy sauce, just simply yellow. I’m assuming I was eating white rice mixed with uncooked egg yolk, not fried at all. They charge extra for that. Out of all the Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to, sweet and sour chicken has never been served this way. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
I have just picked up a plate of chicken w/ mixed vegetables which was a 35 minute drive from where I live. I thought Ding How; good place to eat. I was wrong. This literally just ruined my appetite after eating a few bites. I found a hair in my food. Which you would think restaurants would take extra precaution on how they handle food especially because of COVID. Unfortunately, that is not the case for Ding how. Very disappointed. Now I have to go back and show them the evidence in hopes of getting a refund for my troubles. This comment is tentative upon if Ding how makes it right. Or I just might leave this post the way it is for someone else to see. ?
By far our favorite restaurant in San Antonio. It never ever disappoints, food outstanding, very reasonable prices, service outstanding, staff very friendly and very helpful. Portion sizes are huge as well, can be very busy during lunch but the longest I have waited was 15 minutes for a table and trust me it’s well worth the wait.
Food is good. Hot & Sour soup was off tonight....too much vinegar or hot oil...not as good as previous visit. Kung pow chicken was excellent, as was seshwan beef. Service was excellent but, if you're serious about COVID & wearing masks, why seat everyone in the same section close together? I get being short on staff but we were crowded! Another good Asian experience in an Asian desert of San Antonio.
Good atmosphere, fast service. We got a party of 6 and got seated so fast during lunch time. Food was tasty and affordable. Our waitress was so considerate and friendly. The only dish doesnt meet expectation was the pecking duck. It was such a small dish for the price, and there weren't buns. The duck also taste blanc, so it can be done so much better.
After a brief 5 min wait, I was seated. Hostess informed me that staff was new and still learning, which allowed me to practice a little more patience w my young waiter. Although he forgot my drink, and of those around me, you could see he was trying. Hot & Sour soup was extremely tasty and only one I've had that actually had a welc?med kick to it! Spicy Garlic Shrimp was just that. All in all, good visit. Planning on returning to try a couple more dishes. Only drawback was that it was a bit warm.?♂️
The last time I dined here was in the early 1990s, but recently read a raving review that this was THE BEST CHINESE in San Antonio. What a joke! There are definitely much, much better asian cuisine in San Antonio. Service by Hyesun was good! Dined here on a Friday evening (early), so we were seated immediately. Big menu, but be prepared for up charges, such as fried rice vs white rice $1.20 and wonton strips for a cup of soup 55 cents. My Kung Bo Chicken was mostly celery! Small bits of chicken. It was HORRIBLE! The fried rice is a joke. It is yellow, instead of white. No veggies or meat in the fried rice. BEWARE! The soy sauce on the table, in an unmarked dispenser, was EXTREMELY salty.
Not impressed at all. After reading about the great food and prices, I decided to try it. My eggroll came first and on the first bite, I bit into something so hard I couldn't chew it up. I instantly gagged and put it off to the side. I ordered cashew shrimp and fried rice. I got a mound of green onions, green peppers, peas, cashews, and 5 shrimp and white rice. Now that I'm home, my stomach is very upset.
This place was the BEST!!!! Am amazing atmosphere and delicious food!!! Will definitely make the drive back for more!!!
Had the Shrimp & veggies. Very very good,! Highly recommend ?
