I was excited to see the Yelp event was with Curry Boys since we’ve been wanting to try it and haven’t yet until today. Bummer that’s it’s not one of the participating AAPI Heritage Month Passport restaurants. As I went up to order asking for mild options, I was told that they had just run out of the chicken option. The next mildest item on the menu was The Missing Link. Though it normally comes with the Penang Curry, they were able to put the milder yellow curry on it. I shared the dish with Dad and I felt that we’re both wimpy when it comes to spicy foods. We both still did enjoy it and had leftover. Thank you Yelp for The Missing Link meal. My husband had the Brisket Smoke Show with extra sausage. He initially shared a piece of brisket with Dad and me. Boy, was it melt-in-your-mouth tender! I had asked him to share another piece with me, it was so good! My husband felt that it’s top 5 briskets that he’s had before. We also shared the curry creamed corn and fresh herb & cucumber slaw. Dad and I both had the coconut juice which had coconut bits in it and my husband had the Topo Chico. We tried the Flan Solo which was not too sweet. We can totally understand why this place is so popular. They had run out of food the other day and probably frequently do!
So freaking good. Went late in the day so only one option left. Can't wait to try everything else.
Three of us stopped by on a Friday afternoon for some phenomenal rice bowls. We had the brisket and green curry, the chicken and the cream corn. The food is amazing!Pro tip:- place your order at the bright pink station and grab a seat at one of the outdoor spots- if you go mid afternoon there is plenty of seating
For starters, this place has an amazing, unique concept I haven't come across anywhere else: mixing Texas BBQ with Thai curry. Who would have thought this could be such a dynamic duo! The menu is relatively small, with occasional specials, but has a lot of firepower. The chicken with yellow curry is one of the best bites I've had in San Antonio to-date. The aroma alone had me excited, but the meat was incredibly smoky, and that curry could hold it's own against some of the better Thai restaurants out there. The crispy chili oil added good texture and a ton of heat, which I loved, but beware if you have a low spice tolerance. Wow.. Curry Boys BBQ is fire!
Absolutely the best BBQ I have ever had. It is a mixture of curry and BBQ. It is like a nice permanent food truck with outside seating. I plan in going back every time I go to San Antonio. Would recommend this place to everyone who wants excellent flavor with a mild to moderate price.
The brisket was perfect, but not many drink options ....and like no sodas options at all. The curry sauce was good but we didnt get much sauce with the order would of been nice if they gave us more curry. Id would eat here again if I wanted to spoil myself, but it is a smaller serving for the price.
Yum! The unexpected combo of brisket and green curry was delicious and a great way to warm up. I would definitely recommend adding house pickles to any bowl. The creamed corn was wonderful as well and one of the highlights of the meal
They serve rice bowl style dishes that pair traditional BBQ with Asian pacific curries. The brisket with green curry was great! Smokey, moist brisket with tasty green curry worked really well. The smoked sausage and chicken dishes were great too. Fyi, dine-in means outside on picnic tables. Definitely give this a try if you have a chance.
Curry Boys was such a great find! We ordered the corn and brisket bowl and it was delicious! The curry was very flavorful and the brisket was super tender. The only thing that I think can be improved is the rice. They use a long grain rice, but basmati would probably work better. There is parking a short walk away, but there is only outdoor, bench seating. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes!
Long overdue! Wonderful people and delicious food. They're the only place I know that combines Southern Texas BBQ with Thai Curry and makes me wonder why no one else does it. What a combo. Their vegetarian mushroom & brisket curry are my go-to when I'm in town!
