We ordered several appitizers and drinks. The server was attentive. Location is good (on the riverwalk). We ordered two appitizers, both were pretty terrible. We could not eat them.

Food was excellent and authentic. Had a great time. Wonderful views of the San Antonio River Walk. I definitely recommend a stop here.

First restaurant to open on the river walk it is a must! It’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We were about to leave town on Wednesday, and decided to go down for late “breakfast” since they open at 11am. Weather was great and we got a table outside. Service was fast and friendly. We had shrimp tacos and the Deluxe dinner plate. The deluxe came with chips and queso, guacamole, a taco, an enchilada, a tamale and rice and beans. Good size portions. I had to try their flan. A little pricey and kinda small but very good and looked so pretty! We had a great time and could enjoy the Riverwalk a bit more.

The restaurant was right off the river walk and although the wait was going to be 45 minutes we wanted to eat here b/c the reviews were so good. The food was AMAZING! My wife had green chili enchiladas and I have steak fajitas. The food was delicious but I was amazed at just HOW MUCH steak they gave me. It was like an 8-10 oz skirt steak and it was too much for me. But I wasn’t about to let any of the steak go to waste. The service was really, really good and he promptly kept checking in on us. If we are ever in San Antonio again we will DEFINITELY eat at Casa Rio!!!

The food was good but not the best Mexican/Tex-Mex food I've had. Our server didn't really check on us (refill water, etc.) but I'll chalk that up to the fact that they were very busy. We did enjoy sitting by the river and watching the boats go by as we ate. There was also a mariachi band playing nearby that made it more enjoyable.

Ate here on a girls’ trip hoping for some delicious Mexican on the Riverwalk. What we got was just fair or subpar. Meals we ordered were the Linda salad with beef fajita meat, the Special and Beef enchiladas. None of us were very thrilled with our food. I would not recommend this place and will not be back. One bright spot is it was not expensive. But seriously you’re on vacation, go somewhere memorable.

Cool little restaurant right on the riverwalk. Enjoy that margarita, chips salsa and enchiladas while watching the boats float the river. Eat outside to enjoy the atmosphere. Great service

Last time I was in San Antonio (10 years ago?) we went to Casa Rio and loved it. In town again recently for a trade show, it was our first stop. The food - chicken enchilads, street tacos - was a huge step above what most of us are used to with Mexican food. The spices were delicious, and we both cleaned out plates. Not everything is covered in cheese here, which is good because it allows you to taste the food more. The food was delivered fast and hot, and our server (she didn't have a name tag on!) was great. After eating there at lunch, we actually returned at dinner to attend an opening reception for our trade show. Casa Rio twice in one day? Yes please! We tried to eat there again before we left, but they aren't open on Mondays & Tuesdays. Sadness.

San Antonio Riverwalk is a scenic area to stroll around despite the daily 37°C sweltering Texas heat. So many choices yet Casa Rio is the oldest restaurant along the river having been open since 1946. It's quite popular too as the wait time provided by the hostess was 40 minutes! Fortunately it took only 10 minutes for their online system to text me back that my seating was ready. Go high, aim low? It's standard Tex-Mex here, and everyone is dressed in traditional attire. First up was a basket of tortilla chips and salsa. After quite a while due to busy service, my platter of grilled shrimp quesadilla arrived along with a small bowl of chili con carne. The soup was loaded with beef and pork chunks though it was too overly salty for my liking. The quesadilla was crispy on the outside and loaded with shrimp and cheesy goodness on the inside. It was quite filling when added with guacamole, sour cream and lettuce. A level above Taco Bell though not spectacular.Casa Rio's menu prices are quite reasonable. Their Tex-Mex options are fairly extensive, including tacos, fajitas and enchiladas as well. It's easy to see why they're popular with local families and tourists alike. It doesn't hurt to also have picturesque coloured patio tables and umbrellas along the Riverwalk.

This location is great. It is right at the hub of the river walk and has nice outside seating, live music and great vibes. The service was fast and friendly. The food wasn't anything especially good but it was reasonably priced. We ordered the regular plate and combinations plates with chalupas and enchiladas. We also got non-alcoholic peach and strawberry daquiri's which were very yummy.
