Small place with big flavors! We were heartily greeted as we came in. Flounder and catfish are delicately seasoned and fried. French fries are perfect,and coleslaw is not boring. Hush puppies are the best I've ever tasted. And yes, they have dessert! We tried chocolate cake (wonderful) and sweet potato pie (heavenly). I was very impressed with our young waiter, he has so much personality!
Ate here last night and I must say this is the best fried fish I've had since coming to San Antonio 3 months ago. The greens were off the chain as well. Friendly attentive staff. Would recommend highly. They also have a unique tasting tartar sauce. Loved it
I had the fried mushrooms. They were great. I had gumbo. It was spicy but tasty. The red beans and rice were dry. They forgot my cornbread . I had to go back inside to get it. Ask for extra ranch dressing next time.
ordered food for two: a catfish dinner, a medium (12 oz) gumbo, three "sides" and kool-aid. the catfish and fries were reportedly delicious. the cabbage was enjoyed by one and the green beans and red beans and rice were "okay" and they were TINY kid-sized portions. the real let down was the gumbo..... couldn't even finish it. the tabasco tasting roux was not tasty. furthermore,it was primarily rice with only two shrimp and three penny-sliced sausages - yes, I counted. there were more mushrooms than anything. I am an absolute mushroom lover but who does that? mushrooms in gumbo? it was awful ?. worst of all, prices were recently elevated again (do not trust the online menus). $43.63 and not worth it. I do not recommend.
First impression, the smell of the place was neutral. Floor was a little sticky and there was dust piles on the ceiling fans. Service was outstanding though. The food did take a while to come out (most 20 minutes), but it was worth it. The Shrimp Po Boy was delicious as well as the hushpuppies. Free refills were given out. Other than cleanliness, Bayseas was really good!
From delivery...I'm 50 yrs old and it smells heavenly looks and tastes like My Grandma's cooking from s-c-r-a-t-c-h! Still nice and warm. Cornbread is a thing of beauty. All sides I tried were delish! Portions very generous. Every bite was worthy. Yum Pork chops! Happy tummy! (LL-Leftovers Later)
The freshest fish I've had without catching and cooking it myself!! And THOSE HUSHPUPPIES were the best I've EVER had!The staff was so friendly and pleasant even when swamped on the 1st Friday of Lent Mom and I shall return posthaste.
Some of the BEST fish and coleslaw...I think better than most fine dining restaurants ... thanks I'll keep coming and the staff treats me like family ..
