This place was absolutely amazing!! The food was phenomenal, the drinks were delicious, the service was phenomenal… I mean I can’t say enough great things!! We will definitely be coming back here!

Loved!!!!!!!! We ended up sitting at the bar and had a great experience. The bartenders were amazing and let us enjoy the experience and didn’t rush us. The food was sooooo good and we left very full and happy! They were on top of everything!

Always a wonderful experience!!!!

Remember in the movie Ratatouille when the food critic eats the food at the end and it tastes so amazing that he is transported back yo his childhood? That's what I wanted from this meal. I did not get it. The building is nice and looks very fancy. The service was just ok. We had a reservation but still had to wait to be seated and no, it wasn't full. There were many free tables available. We got there at the same time as another couple who did not have a reservation and they were seated first and we were told that they had to figure out where to seat us. Since it was our first time at Battalion the waiter recommended getting many dishes so we could share and said that the idea is family style. We got the spinach dumplings, the meatballs, the Bombay. Each was 14$. We also got lamb chops which was 38$. For the price, the servings were so small. The dumplings were the best thing but I would recommend getting one plate per person because the servings were so small. The meatballs were good but were gone before you know it and the waiter said the Bombay pasta would be spicy but instead was flavorless. We were disappointed at the size of everything but expected the lamb chops to be more. Instead, we got 4 tiny lamb chops. I wouldn't mind if the food was a flavor explosion. Sadly, it was not. It was forgettable and we won't be back.

While the place is very nice it’s also very noisy. It’s hard to have a conversation with people at the table without speaking loudly. The server was great and on top of the table. Food was mediocre the steak was over cooked and the food wasn’t hot. The halibut and the sweet potatoes were probably the best dishes my table got last night.

Tonight we tried the Lasagna, Chicken Parmigan, meatballs and bread. Everything was delicious! Service was on point.

Overall a B/B+ - for San Antonio Italian it’s pretty good and we’d come back if others in our group really wanted to, but not anything like what you’d get in NYC, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, etc. Appetizers OK, salads quite good, pastas -eh - we had three: Spinach Dumplings (taste good but dry), Strozzapretti with Mushroom sauce done very well, but Spaghetti alla Gricia, the simplest and should be easiest, had a poorly executed sauce not incorporating Pecorino to form a “cream.” Very small amount of some meat that should have been lardons or cubed guanciale, but I suspect pancetta was used - needed a lot more care and better technique. If you are expecting high quality Italian and are used to it, not really up to expectations. Exec chef needs some training.

My husband and I have been there many times and bring guests with us whenever we can. The service is always outstanding and the food is absolutely amazing!

This was my first time going, I have to say it was amazing. Our server was great. He knew that whole menu and gave the best recommendations. Definitely coming back. Food was so delicious.

Disappointed with the lamb chops but everything else was absolutely amazing!
