Check their Facebook for updated hours. This was my first visit in a few years and there have been some great updates. There's lots of nice shaded seating options outside. Inside there is counter seating, booths, tall tables, and shorter tables. The lighting is a little dim but not dark. I didn't recognize the music playing but I liked it. The coffee bar counter is much nicer. Generally the place feels nicer and more comfy. This would be a good spot to work on your laptop. The wait was longer than I expected, but nothing terrible, and I'd rather wait here than Starbucks. The owner is funny and friendly. I got an oat milk latte, which was delicious. Previously I've gotten the horchata latte, which is amazing. I'm also a fan of the barbacoa grilled cheese.
Just moved to the area and was looking for coffee around 1pm. Saw a bunch of people outside of Barrio Barista so my bf & I decided to give it a try. We ordered the favorite horchata latte and matcha latte. Alternative milks were only 50 cents (being a New Yorker iykyk lol) — 10/10 the ambiance was great and owner himself was cheffing up our drinks. Will definitely be here again!
If you’re looking to get the feel of true San Antonio cultura in a coffee shop, including getting treated with much hospitality, this is your spot.By the way, Latte is excellent and you cannot leave without trying there one of a kind, “barbacoa grilled cheese sandwich” (aka the Westside special).
--Yes, they are open--(wed, thurs, and friday for now)A warm and welcoming place. The owner, Gilbert, offered my kids juice and crackers. He told them a few funny jokes and served us the barbacoa grilled cheese we ordered. Me and the wife ordered horchata iced latte and abuelita coffee as well from the barista, and it was all amazing and very tasty. I definitely recommend this place to all the locals and out of towners while in San Antonio.
