The best restaurant and Afghan halal store in the town. The food is very delicious and authentic. The store is very clean and organized. The owner Essa is a very humble person who treats customers with courtesy and goes above and beyond for your satisfaction. They have the best quality products that includes fresh dry fruit, fresh produce, dairy, variety of rice, lentils, spices, household items, rugs, clothes, traditional jewelry and so on with the lowest prices compared to other stores in the town. A must go place if you live in San Antonio or go for a visit like me.

I was looking on Yelp for hot new businesses and saw Afghan Village Restaurant. We checked it out for lunch and everything was delicious! It's mostly an Afghan market that started over 10 years ago in Houston and they've now been in San Antonio for 4 months. Inside the store, there is a table for 3 and outdoors, there are several tables for 2. We decided to sit and eat outdoors. We had lamb in 2 different dishes - Lamb Karahi (my favorite) and Qabuli Palau/Lamb Shank. The meats were all tender! Loved the biryani rice with raisins! We also had the Mantoo/dumplings and Chicken Karahi. The chicken was slightly dry and the Naan was a little rigid instead of soft. We tried the Rani drinks in Peach and Mango.Essa, the manager, gave us their version of salad to try and also the green tea with cardamom. These were complimentary. The salad was tomatoes, jalapeno peppers and raw onions topped with lemon juice. The customary way to drink the tea is take a bite of the pure sugar then drink the tea. It was a cultural experience. In case you didn't know, Afghanistan is part of South Asia so check it out for AAPI Heritage Month! Before I left, I told Zahid who cooked the food God Bless You and asked him how to say it in Afghan language (Pashto). Allah di ubaha!

I am glad my husband and I visited this store and restaurant. We could experience some of the Afghan culture through tasty food! We will go there again.

This place is fantastic. I keep forgetting to take a picture of the food because it's so good! Kabuli pulao, bolani, hardawa, mantoo (Afghan dumplings), all delicious!

I am very happy we found this hole in the wall market/restaurant. They make delicious food! The owner was very kind and helpful explaining different meal options. My friend said this felt like a little piece of Afghanistan was brought to San Antonio. Highly recommend.

Good variety of options as part of the market section and the food for dine in/ carry out is excellent

Food was incredible. The chapli kebab was 10/10, and even simple things like the rice was so, so good. The staff on the other hand are some of the kindest people — this place feels like dining at a close friends home. The warmth is amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Loved the takeout (got delivery for qabuli palau and lamb karhai) and both were delicious. Decided to walk Sunday morning to the store to pick up some dried fruit and halal meat. Unfortunately it was closed at 9:45 am, so I’d appreciate if the owner can update the business hours on Google, website, phone and door. :-) I’ll be back to try this new business again. thanks!

The food was so good. I’m still daydreaming about my meal. The staff was so kind to explain all the dishes and ultimately made us a combination platter. I cannot wait to go back and eat! Thank you for such delicious food!!

Food traveled very well and it was delicious! Got a series of entrees: highly recommend the Lamb Karhai and the Mantu/dumplings. All the tomato-based sauces tasted so fresh. Also when we came in for pick-up, spent a good 15 minutes combing through the store too - many fun desserts on the shelves, as well as great prices on spices, spice mixes for meal prep, and other goods. Can't wait to come back. Wish I had pictures but we ate the food too quickly!
