They did my daughters wedding and reception. Handled all the major arrangements and everything I didn't think of. The event was fantastic and the wedding cake was the best cake I have ever had. Everyone enjoyed the food. City Cafe and Bakery took care of decorations, flowers, cake, dinner for 60, tables and chairs, tent and even found a/c fans. They had a staff that made the day go easy for me. Everything was outside in June. Thanks
I have several good things to say about this business. 1. they took my order on very short notice. 2. As you can see by the photos, they made a beautiful cake. 3. When I came to pick up the cake, a very nice young man loaded it into the car. Now what I would like to say is, the top layer of the cake and the icing was out of this world! But as you can see the second layer of the cake looks like it’s not fully cooked. It also did not taste good. We ate the top layer on a Friday, the same day we picked it up. We kept the cake refrigerated as we were instructed to do so. On Saturday we were going to eat the second layer and we’re very disappointed to find it was inedible. The frosting was still delicious, and we did graze on the frosting. This business is not open on Sunday or Monday, so today Tuesday, I went in to speak to the chef, she said, “the cake is fully cooked, it is their fudge version.“ It definitely did not taste like fudge. This conversation was completely civil, she asked me if I had brought the cake back, I thought this very odd, she mentioned they had been in business for 42 years indicating they had had no complaints and then said what do you want me to do. I told her I was not a complainer but she knew that I had already paid for a cake from another baker (a home business), that did not turn out well, and now I am out another $100 for her cake that did not turn out well… She did offer to refund part of my money. I declined the offer, yes you’re right, I cut off my nose to spite my face! But my thought is if you’ve been in a business for 42 years wouldn’t you be a little more eager to save your sterling reputation?
Delicious cake I ordered for 30 people. I requested a peach filling because of the theme of my party. It is not a common flavor and the first bakery I called refused my order. But the City Bakery got it done for me! I had so many compliments on the cake at my baby shower. The cake was big too! I was really pleased with the outcome. Definitely recommend.

San Angelo’s best caterers, Susan Ball and Brad Ball, aka City Cafe & Bakery, did it again for our family on the last weekend in July with a big party, all the planning, all the beautiful decorating, fabulous food which everyone loved, crave-worthy desserts, helpful advice, TABC bar staff & delightful wait staff, set-up, & clean up! They got it done beautifully; we had fun, & the price was right! No wonder they are San Angelo’s BEST caterer & event planner! Thank you, Susan & Brad!
Glad that others had a positive experience with this bakery but we did not. My daughter made an appointment to sample some cake and get an estimate for her wedding cake. When we arrived there were no samples and Susan was not really very friendly but she did come recommended so we gave her the benefit of the doubt and went ahead and ordered the cake and left a $100 deposit. Susan said she would call my daughter the following week for samples, that week turned into 3 weeks. My daughter called to ask about the samples on Monday and left a message, someone called her back on Tuesday and told her to come in on Friday for samples. My daughter worked 7 to 5:30 that day so my husband and I went in and she said she didn't know we were coming and gave us one small piece of frozen cake. Bottom line we found a very friendly baker that will do the cake cheaper (even with the loss of our deposit) and her cake is amazing, all made from scratch.

Been to tons of weddings in my life but never in my life have I ever been more impressed with a caterer’s food. Wow it was unbelievable everybody at the wedding was talking about how great the food and cake is. Been to parties hosted by the governor and city cafe & bakery’s food was so much better. Wish they were located in Austin! I would be calling them all the time!
