I stopped here for lunch on my way to Inner Space Cavern. The restaurant is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. I tried the smoked turkey breast sandwich and it was delicious! Very tender, smoky and flavorful! And i thought the portion size was impressive. I would definitely order it again. I had the macaroni and cheese as my side and that was good but not as stellar as the sandwich. I've had much better mac and cheese. Fountain drinks are available as you need them, if you make your lunch a combo, which is a nice touch.
I would say 2.5 stars but not 3. Clean place to eat, friendly staff. Had to wait about 8 minutes with 1 person in front of me. Brisket was dry and bland. Chicken was moist, but the skin was CAKED with seasoning. Sides were good. Banana pudding was tasty but not made in house. I would come back if the prices were lower. I paid $23 for a $12 meal
Meh...this place was okay...not anything special. The beans have a funny consistency (a very thick "broth") and surprisingly spicy. I ate mine and my wife stopped at one bite. I had a coarsely chopped beef sandwich that could have used more fat. The wife's sliced beef was okay, but on the dry side. I would not go out of my way to eat here, but if in the area and want a quick meal, it could be okay for that.
It's good. It won't win Texas Monthly awards but it is better than anything outside of CenTex
We have been Smokey Mo's customers for years. We picked up brisket and chopped tonight. The chopped tasted bad and had a weird after taste. When we called to talk to the manager he let us know that they have changed their chopped recipe to be mainly turkey (not sure that would cause the after taste) We asked to pass on feedback that we wouldn't be returning if that was a permanent change. While he did refund our money, he was not at all concerned or interested in feedback.
The staff was really friendly and helpful when trying to decide what to order. I wanted to try several meats. I selected the three meat meal. I chose the brisket, sausage, and turkey. For the sides, I selected potato salad and creamed corn. The brisket was moist, had the smoke ring, but didn't have much flavor. The sausage was okay but reminded me of store-bought sausage like Hillshire Farms. The turkey was very moist and tender. The flavor was pretty good but nothing to come back for. The potato salad and creamed corn were pretty good. Would I come again? Yeah. The food was good, just not something to call home about. The restaurant was clean and family-friendly.
BBQ was great! And a fantastic value. Best deal in town the way BBQ prices are going. And free sauce was great, plus they packed us plenty of pickles and onions and a loaf of bread. Big hit at our Super Bowl party.
Smokey Mo’s is our go-to bbq place. It’s always delicious! Highly recommend their chopped breakfast tacos! They also have the best potato salad and the best spicy bbq sauce. Everything is delicious though, I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. Their staff is friendly and professional too and it’s always clean.
The brisket was extremely juicy and falling apart. The sausage was phenomenal. The staff was nice and went above and beyond to give me a good experience. Highly recommend
Can't say it's the worst BBQ I've ever had but definitely the worst in Texas. The sides are absolutely disgusting and small servings on top of that which wasn't a bad thing in this case. I had a piece of burnt end that tasted gamey and rancid.
