Quaint Italian restaurant in a good spot near the lake. Though it is not on the water it carries a coastal vibe throughout. The escargot was delicious. It's true, I love butter and garlic. The bread was also drenched in butter, as it should be. The salad was crisp and fresh. I had FUSSILI PUGNOCCHIUSO as my main. Sauteed noodles turns out are not my favorite. They are a little harder than what I expected, but still tasted good. It was a texture thing for me. The servers were attentive with water and drinks. I would go back if I'm in the area again.
The food was amazing. Our waitress on the other hand very unattentive. We literally had to wait 30 minutes to order after we'd been sitting there an hour and then when we needed more water it took her another 30 minutes.
Nice place with a cosy deco. Was packed tonight even when I went in after 8pm. Had the calamari and the Father’s Day special ribeye. Both were good!
We always enjoy the specials at the Oar House but the crab claws are main stay. Crab butter and garlic - how can you go wrong???? We had the flounder with crab meat and it was awesome.
The drinks were fantastic, as was the service. I found both the brochette and the Bistecchino Di Manzo disappointing, as did my wife with her meal. The celery soup and French baguette were both delicious however. The price did not match the food quality.
January 23rd we visited The Oar House in Rockwall, near the Harbor. Established about 20 years ago, The Oar House is simply Rockwall! I give this place 5 stars and here’s why: the Oar house is quiet, romantic, cozy, rustic yet elegant, with authentic wood floors with brick and cobblestone accents. The décor and authentic feel of an old, expensive cruise ship is strongly represented here. Think Titanic meets pirate ship. The crisp, white table cloths give The Oar House a formal nuance while the rustic floors and ceilings balance out the ambiance with a more relaxed feel. The prices are on the high side but the food and service are impeccable! For appetizers, we had the large, button mushrooms filled with veal and seasoned with a lovely balance of rosemary and thyme in a creamy tomato sauce which was perfect for dipping our fresh garlic bread. We also shared the baby clams in a creamy sauce. I’m not much of a shellfish person, but the sauce on these was delicious! Each week, the chef at The Oar House, puts together a special menu that is ever changing so I ordered sole, garlic mashed potatoes and a perfectly cooked veg medley from among the few “Chef’s Choice” dishes. The fish was cooked to perfection! This came with a side salad which was fresh and delicious! Duane kept it simple with a bowl of lobster bisque and he described it as rich with multiple layers of flavor, the best he’s had, and a cross between lobster bisque and roasted pepper soup, which sang to him! This place is going to be one of our favorites! We were invited to return for lunch, as the menu is slightly different. Dress was business casual and price was about $50 per person including drink and appetizer. Menu posted below. The Ore House
Great bottle of wine. Good friendly service. Our server brought out our salads but forgot to drop our appetizer order. Dinner came and was wonderful. She apologized and offered free dessert. We were not rushed and stayed to finish our bottle of wine. Its was nice to enjoy dining that was intimate and relaxing. No loud music in the background. Nice to find a place focused on the guests. Lots of couples on Saturday night. I booked thru open table app.
This place has so much character, the decor itself is really warming, calming, and comforting to me. I love all of the stained glass everywhere in the place. And the mixed matched plates are really cute to me. I know a few other places that do that and they always seem to be the best places. The service was just perfect and our waitress was super sweet and was happy to explain more about the dishes to my husband and I. I personally got the Vitello Carciofino and it was Amazing! All of the flavors were so rich and the food is filling too. I’ve never had anything like it before and we will definitely be coming back to try out more of the dishes.I personally didn’t want to leave the place cause of how welcoming it is. Keep up the good work there you all
Dec. 8 th 12-1pm Lunch , no crowd,Been waiting to try this place , Had a party of 4 . Sadly, I didn’t like my meal , it had this weird flavor , I didn’t eat it . Waitress never asked why I didn’t eat my food . She also didn’t seem concerned, Everyone else liked there dishes . Ambiance was as expected , older place, been open here for a long time , you have to reserve here . It’s an older Italian restaurant, we sat in a circular booth . However , My guests enjoyed the food .Sometimes you are not as good as you once were . I may give it another chance .
Went today for the first time! What can I say besides that it’s an excellent place! Loved everything; the atmosphere, the service, the food, etc. We’ll be back soon!!!
