Went in yesterday 8-6-2022. Looked at menus and prices and nearly fell out my seat. They're proving themselves out of the market. I hustcwalked out and went to Texas Roadhouse with same quality and better service for about 40 % less expense. No brainers here.
We had lunch on the 4th of July. We made an appointment and only had to wait a few minutes for our table. Our server was very polite and made sure to refill our drinks. There was a lag in our service at the very end so not sure if it was break time or just being busy.Food was good and the atmosphere was nice.
My son and I visited Saltgrass on 6/28/22. The hostess greeted us and sat us at a booth. Our waitress took our drink order and asked if we would like any appetizers or if we had questions about the menu. My son ordered chicken fried chicken and I ordered the ribs. Waitress brought out our drinks and bread. We asked for extra butter for bread. We waited for a good 10 minutes and she never brought the butter. Not a big deal. My son and I start looking around for her and notice she’s in the kitchen area having a snack and chatting. Approximately 23 minutes after placing our order she brings our food. She asked if there was anything else and I asked, again, for the butter. She stops off in the kitchen and chats, pops a few more snacks in her mouth and then eventually brings the butter. I let her know at this point I am having trouble getting the meat off the ribs… they are dry and tough. She tells me to try using my knife in a very condescending way. My son looks very uncomfortable at her rudeness. Not wanting to make a scene and embarrass my son, I politely smile and tell her I will try cutting the ribs with the knife. She returns in about 15 minutes with our check and asks if we would like to order dessert. I tell her we do not care for dessert and point out that I had a very difficult time getting much meat off the ribs. I also asked if she could bring me any moist towelettes for my fingers bc… ribs = messy. She informed me that Saltgrass does not provide wet wipes and invited me to use my water and the linen napkin (again, very snarky). Bottom line- she brought our check and I was overcharged for my lunch entree. When I pointed it out she argued with me about the charges even after I showed her the price discrepancy on their menu and she then pointed out that the manager took 25% off our check bc I was unhappy with the ribs. She refused to take the card I was giving her and gestured towards the ticket holder and told me to put it inside and she would take. Very disappointing. My son and I were looking forward to a fun, relaxing day and this encounter was truly one of the worst dining experiences that either of us can remember. At the beginning of our summer we visited another family steakhouse restaurant in this same area and had such GREAT service we left a 100% tip. (Our ticket was $30 and we left a $30 tip) Needless to say, we will be giving our business to the other restaurant in the future.
It was delicious! I loved it! I had the steak and shrimp and the steak was cooked perfectly and very tender and the grilled shrimp was the best I've ever had, it was juicy and tender and had a 7 blend seasoning that was different than what I had ever tried. Our waitress was very polite and easy to talk to and my husband had tea to drink and when he needed a refill she was quick to fill his glass and left a pitcher on our table. I was impressed and wish they had a saltgrass steak house closer to where I live! I highly recommend trying this restaurant!
I have never in my life had such terrible service. Orders curbside pick up. Drive 30 minutes in traffic pick up order that we confirmed 3 times. Order brought out ticket was correct I them drive 30 minutes home open the bag and it had an appetizer I did not order & bread. So I call the manager & suggested they use one of many available delivery services to deliver the correct order. Donna says they can’t do that but she can give me credit for my order. I said how about my gas my time. I said I have never in my life had such poor service & a manager named Donna who then says I can give you credit but I won’t listen to you yell at me. Yes my voice was raised but how do you think that made me feel after everything I just described. I will never go to this restaurant again. We even have our semi annual dinners there I take clients there but no more. So this cost them a lot of business. This is so out of order I ordered two full dinners & sides this is what I got home with ?
My steak was perfect! The cut was not thick but presented a fair value given the sides. I had the ribeye, right amount of marbling. The steak was seasoned well, I didn't have to add anything, not even steak sauce. My mac and cheese was simply delectable. Worthy of a repeat for sure.
Our waitress, Bren, was amazing today. So welcoming, informative, attentive & sweet!
Great atmosphere and friendly prompt staff
Our neighbor gave us a gift card so we traveled to Rockwall to eat at Saltgrass. We bought a couple of drinks at the bar with the gift card for $9.74 and closed our tab at the bar. We ordered our food and after we finished we gave the waitress the gift card and our credit card, because we didn’t know the amount on the gift card. The waitress returned and said the account for the gift card was “locked” and it was declined. The waitress said that the manager tried to use the gift card but that it was declined. We paid for our food with our credit card, then before throwing the gift card away, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager told me exactly what the waitress said that the card was declined and she was sorry. I asked the manager, what were the odds that my neighbor gave us a gift card for exactly $9.74, the cost of our two drinks? She again looked me in the eye and told me she was sorry but the account was “locked” and the card was declined. I then asked her to go to the bar, and see if the card would work there, just to satisfy me. The manager begrudgingly did as I asked. The manager returned and said that when we used the gift card at the bar, the bar tenders did not close the account, and that is why the gift card was declined. I had already shown her my receipt from when we were charged $9.74 to show her we had closed the account and paid with the gift card before we got our table. She never responded to that, but then offered to void our credit card payment, and apply an additional $40 credit which was remaining on the gift card. That is what we did. The manager never apologized, and never offered us anything for our trouble. If I hadn’t challenged the manager twice asked her to see why we could buy drinks at the bar, and raised the issue of why our neighbor would have given us a gift card for $9.74, we would have walked out of Saltgrass and been defrauded of over $40. The manager embarrassed us and never apologized even when she discovered that we were right. I will never eat at Saltgrass in Rockwall again and neither should you. Don’t let them scam you if you have a gift card.
good food good service....polite folks..just never got my drink I ordered from bar
