This is a small quaint authentic restaurant that serves awesome sushi! I ordered the Omakase and everything I received was excellent. I'm Japanese so I want to bring my mother here as well so she can experience it.
This place is great for sushi and sashimi only, their sushi tastes amazing but I feel that their other dishes aren’t upto the mark. The portion sizes for the sushi was also small. What really bothered me was that the serving size for the soup, although traditional; they should have mentioned how tiny it was, barely like two shots of soup, even as an appetizer seemed very little. It doesn’t help that the taste was bland too. Absolutely recommend it for sushi and sashimi, but nothing else imo.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in town. Great good and service and cozy pleaseLove this place
Masami is the ultimate hole in the wall. The interior design is stuck firmly in the early 2000s, green and orange walls and cheap furniture. There is a tatami room that seats up to six that can be reserved. There are maybe eleven tables here, the place is extremely small. The food is extremely good, especially the sushi. It rivals the quality of nearby Sushi Sake, a staple of high quality authentic Japanese food in the city, at maybe 2/3 the price. I came on a Friday night - the place was packed. The three sushi chefs were older Japanese men, one being the owner. We ordered a bunch of sushi (I recommend the negi-toro roll and the ankimo if you like pâté) and I got the best sunomono I've ever bad, a pickle dish with a surprise addition of octopus, shrimp, and surf clam. The dobin mushi had an amazing and complex homemade seafood broth.Don't be fooled by the dated interior. This is a hidden gem in Richardson!
We have been regular Masami diners for 16 years, its the best sushi restaurant in DFW. I have lived here 40+ years and tried them all. Dont waste your time searching. Enjoy the Great food, great athentic Japanese atmosphere. Seeing Chef Ryo and his family is like coming home for the Holidays!
It was so much fun getting together with girlfriends for dinner in the private dining room. Food and service was exceptional. Sushi, salmon and shrimp were fresh and so good. We’ll definitely return!
Really local, great place. Open 10 years. The head shed is the owner. Found out about this place from a simple Google search for “best sushi in Richardson.” Place didn’t disappoint. Darvish roll, toro and Aji horse mackerel were incredible. Heart attack roll was a bit flat. We will be back.
This place was oishii!!! Everything was fresh and straight from the kitchen. Apps were great, the tempura was so good. Sushi was excellent and the katsudon was excellent!
Authentic Japanese with lots of variety and Izakaya food. Sushi was decent, but the must get is the softshell shrimp.Expect nice waiters and respectful staff, but the service can be slow and seats are limited at peak times.
Phenomenal. Closest thing to being in Japan all here in DFW! Freshest fish, best options, most delicious sushi in Texas!!!
