Visited summer 2022I have visited Abu Omar’s food trucks and they are quite good but the restaurant not so much. I ordered the chicken Arabi combo. The girl working the cash register was a bit rude and literally was on her phone as she was taking my order. She also gave me a weird look when I asked her how long it would take for the food to come out. Now to the food. I was a bit surprised by the portion size as the food trucks have larger sizes. The restaurant doesn’t give as much for how much it’s priced. I would definitely say it is overpriced. I also paid for an extra sauce I never got in my to go bag, was a little disappointed with that to. The food itself is pretty good. It’s not the best Arabi in Dallas but I’ve had worse. I think they have a few things to work on as a restaurant, i forgot to mention how unkept and musty the restaurant itself is. I dared to go wash my hands and was disgusted by the condition of the bathroom and the fact they didn’t have a proper lock on the door. If they can fix the environment of the inside, train staff to have better and more welcoming attitudes the food can shine better. However good food can’t compensate for bad service or a unclean restaurant.
We got their family platter it included 4 portion each having 3 skewers. Lamb was awesome tender and juicy and still had good fat on it. They used good quality rice and cooked very soft and not dry.
Always great food! Order to go a lot from here and the chicken over rice with the delicious garlic sauce is top notch! The baklava is also super yummy and not overly sticky or too sweet. Love this place!
The lamb shawarma was outstanding and very flavourful! A walk-in take out order didn't take long at all. Must try this place if you enjoy halal eats. Definitely will be back.
Actually surprise of how good the food was. Second visit, first day I had the beef kabob over rice. This time I had the quesadilla and instead of fry I substituted for the rice. Baklava was fire as well.
Firstly.. When you walk in, the girl at the counter had slight attitude, and would whisper to the point we couldn’t hear her. When we would as her to repeat herself, she’d act like we were annoying. She wasn’t big on answering questions.. it was our first time. We didn’t know how they did their food besides the few pictures they have up.Second, this may not be a problem for y’all… but I HATE not having a fountain drink choice, or at least free endless water. You can only purchase coke cans and water bottles. They have a fountain machine, but the lady at the counter said they don’t do it any longer because it’s broken.Third. The food. My Gyro sandwich with fries wasn’t bad at all. The fries were crisp and flavorful. The sandwich was perfect. However, my s/o’s food was incorrect and had way too much sauce. He had the Beef Shawarma over rice. They didn’t include the pickles like in the picture, and again, the sauce was globbed on there instead of drizzled. The salad that was included in it was smaller than the picture and had no dressing, even on the side. However, the hummus and bread is pretty good, and you get a good serving portion, which is great since you pay $4.Fourth. No one called out our order. The guy came and found us like we weren’t listening and seemed a bit annoyed.May come back later for one more chance, may not. We have no idea yet. Hoping to update this review one day.
They said it will take 15 minutes for Beef Kabob and Lamb Kabob but ended up taking 40 mins. The girl was kind enough to give the prayer rug so that we could offer our prayers.
Love their shawarma, kafta wasn’t tasty as I expected but definitely the shawarma was ?also the resturant is cool especially حماتك بتحبك part?
My first time trying this kind of food and I am glad I did! Cant believe I didn’t try this sooner.
Amazing food, even better service, great staff. This location is super handy as this is open till late. The chicken shwarma sandwich was recommended by the staff as best seller, and it definitely was the best.
