Called at 1:45 to find that they were closing at 2, BUT the man who answered the phone, I assume the manager or owner, said the restaurant was still pretty full so I should go ahead and come on in and they'll take care of me. He was so friendly and took my name to make sure I was accommodated. Arrived and had so much fun talking with the lovely friendly Malaysian auntie at the register who also served us our food. I used to live in Southeast Asia and this restaurant hit the spot! So much nostalgia eating these very authentic dishes. Hainanese chicken was great, flavor was spot on, chicken very tender. and they have kangkung! (Asian water spinach, also know as "empty heart vegetable" in Chinese). I'm not Southeast Asian but I love this vegetable so much that I know it in three languages, haha. Great teh tarik ("pulled" milk tea) too. Everything was delicious and this restaurant is now going on the roster of my regular dining-out places. Thanks!!!!
Authentic Malaysian/Thai cooking with owner's family recipes.Excellent taste, wide ranging menu; good service at a reasonable price.Visited for lunch today and as good as ever.
I’ve ordered takeout twice from this place, the first time food was awesome, I thought this was the best Malaysian restaurant in the area. Although I had to wait 30 mins after they changed the status on my delivery app as “ready to pick up”. The second time I ordered from them I realized they just changed the status on the delivery app however they want it. I ordered to pickup at a much later time and got the confirmation, but they just texted me said the food was done 50 mins earlier than my scheduled time. When I rushed to the restaurant, the food was sadly placed on the pickup table for 50 mins. The satay is melted with the paper bag, the hainanese chicken is not eatable because it’s been sitting for too long, it’s super chickeny and fishy’. And they forgot to put salt in my super soggy Kway Teoy. And the samble shrimp is just bad. When I contacted the deliver platform for the issue, the restaurant had a absolutely terrible attitude, nothing was eatable and they offered to refund me $10, for a dinner that I paid $66 for. Never again man, bad attitude is the worst thing a restaurant can have. They messed up the pickup time every time, messed up the food, and refused to admit any mistakes. I simply do not appreciate any business like this.
I’ve been here almost a dozen times, but never did a review. I need to give them credit for the excellence in bringing back fond memories of dining in Singapore. I like the fact the owner is hands on, pretty much always there to ensure satisfied customers like myself. Fresh food, authentic taste. The Hainan chicken could be more tender and use more dark meat instead of white meat. That’s my only comment, everything else I tried has been a big thumbs up.
Home away from home. I have been going to the OG one on Hebron but lately because I shop at zTao across the street, I stop in here once in a while. The food here is as good as the OG and i recommend any of the Malaysian/Singapore dishes. I have never tried the more normal chinese fare that they too have. lol.. The main reason i come here though is for the pastries on the weekends. I am addicted to the curry puffs and especially the pineapple tarts they have. Its so good. but buyer beware... those little tarts will set u back quite a few pennies. Note... there were seven of the shelf... now there are three.
Real Chinese taste and smell, even if it is first visit, but very impressive
Owner is plant based friendly. We love the food there. He even made a vegan pastry puff with potatoes instead of chicken. It’s a special order. Delicious.
Horrible customer service and food quality not the same... We used to patronize this place a lot earlier during the pandemic, I think they have grown now and Alex is no longer nice to clients or his staff... Get some help Alex!
I have been to this location many times but I just realized I never reviewed the place although I think I have reviewed the place in Carrollton. Whenever we travel and we are able to stop in the DFW area, we try to stop by and Plano Secret Recipe is my favorite. Food is pretty close to authentic and if Alex is around, he never fails to stop and say Hello. We love the food so much that we had lunch there and also took some home for dinner.
