At first we thought our visit to Meso Maya was going to be positive – we arrived about 4P & we sat at the bar, we were immediately provided a menu, and asked if we wanted chips/salsa. We waited about 10 minutes before someone returned to take our drink order – house margaritas. Strike 1 – had we wanted just margarita mix, we could have gone to the grocery. Another waiter arrives, but to talk to the single woman enjoying her wine – he was with her for 25 minutes & only left to give a newly arrived table some water. Sure hope he scored with the shear amount of time he was putting into working her – Strike 2. We are finally ready to order the special that was received via email – shrimp & jalapeno flautas. It takes 15 minutes for someone to assist us. Once ordered, it took 20 minutes for the food to arrive – keep in mind there were only two other people at the bar/three tables of two occupied and four workers behind the bar chit chatting – Strike 3. The food tasted good; however, there were no jalapenos in the flauta and it was mostly potato versus shrimp. Potato was listed as one of the supporting ingredients, but it should have been called potato and shrimp flauta – but that doesn’t quite catch the eye to draw people into your restaurant – Strike 4. We asked for our check – 15 minutes later we got it (as the bartender left & the other person was still talking to the single lady & would not acknowledge us) – Strike 5. We immediately put our credit card down to pay – again, no one around – Strike 6. Just as we were pulling out cash to drop & leave, single lady guy finally decided to process the bill. Even though we understand of staffing shortages & have been extremely patient post-Covid, we will never return to Meso Maya with this service as there are so many other options that have been more accommodating.
My wife and I had some alone time while the in-laws looked after our toddler, and she has been wanting to bring me to this restaurant for a while, so after the Fashion Show we went here as it was on the way home. I had very little expectations before we came and I was really blown away at how great everything here was!We ordered the Avocado Margarita and the Oaxaca for drinks. My wife did not like her Margarita until the very end of the night. She said it really didn't 'go with the food' and made it taste a bit weird. She was a bit disappointed as she loves Avocado ice cream and other takes on it. She said before we left that it started to grow on her, but would not get again. On the other hand I won the 'who got the best cocktail contest' with the Oaxaca, it was so delicious. Honestly it reminded me of a take on Old Fashions, which are my go to cocktail. It had a nice spice to it and went perfectly with our meal. It is made with Mezcal lime, orange liqueur and more. It was absolutely delicious to drinkThe chips and salsa was delicious. The chips are in the shape of long rectangles which was cool and i know my daughter would have liked them. The salsa also had a very nice kick to it, which is always a great thing. We opt to share the Budin Azteca Chuleta, which is pork chops with potatoes, queso, and some very nice and spicy salsa! To go with it we ordered a side of rice and beans which was SUPER generous and tasted out of this world. My wife is not a fan of plain white rice, which is what it looks like, but it will fool you as it is decked with tons of flavors and spices. The meal itself was out of this world and we both were stuffed telling the other person to finish off the last bites of it. I saw a picture before it came out and was worried that everything would be 'soggy' as i am a texture person and HATE soggy food, but it was not that way at all. Everything was seared so it was crunchy with the salsa....my mouth is watering just thinking about it right now. Great meal for the price!The authmosphere was awesome and perfect for any date nights. The staff was super nice as wellWe will add this to our list of places for date nights, as it is just to delicious not to come back again!
I really enjoyed Mexican food here. It was delicious. The waiter was very helpful with making the choices, and the service was fast.
Great place for dinner and drinks. Have very tasty house margaritas and greatly enjoy the enchiladas. Their complimentary chips and salsa are a little different, and I like them, but had friends who didn't care for the chips. Only complaint is they only have a mango tea, always forget when I order it, but switching it out has never been an issue and they usually warn you.
One of our favorite places to go. Service is always great, and the food tastes so good! I always get the pollo serrano enchiladas ?
The West Plano Meso Maya has the Best Authentic Mexican food in the city!! The atmosphere is incredible. Lilian, Fernando, and her team are top notch, and will make sure you have an memorable experience. The ingredients are super fresh, entres are well priced, and you’ll be happy you came. This is my first of many visits! If you’ve been thinking about trying it, I highly recommend you come see for yourself!

We sat at a far outdoor table because my husband is on crutches and we had our small dog with us. I informed the host inside that we were out there and no one came. I found a waiter and asked for menus and water. A different lady came with menus and said she would be back with silverware. She came back with waters, but no silverware.The next waiter that came over took our drink orders and then someone different later took our dinner order.The food came before our drinks and we still didn't have silverware. The drink order was wrong. Service was extremely slow and the staff just seemed confused at times.The food here is good, but the service has always been an issue for a place that claims to be more upscale.This was the worst service we have ever had. Not sure we'll be back.
Ask for Fernando!!! He is the best at his job and ver knowledgeable of what is great on the menu and very personable with his tables. Will be back to see Fernado!!!
Great service! I ordered surf and turf and a few beers. Skirt steak and pepper stuffed with shrimp, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. Sergio took care of us.
