We tried to get in on a Friday evening. That didn't work so we went back on Saturday. The wait was worth it. We had the fried dill pickles for an appetizer. Great choice. My wife ordered the blakened rainbow trout. It was cooked perfectly. I had the andouille chicken. There was lot of both on my plate. It too was excellent. The service was great too. Our server, R2B2 (yes I spelled it right) was awesome. I highly recommend Half Shells.
All the food was fresh and yummy. I ordered off of rockfishs page from google but they sent me here which I’m not mad they did lol I wanted to try the oysters (since I was feeling sick and it was a ton of zinc(I felt a lot better)). I got some kind of platter with 3 types of fish , hush puppies and fries. I also had never tried the pudding cake and it was not for me soley based off of texture lol would come back especially for the fried cod and hush puppies .
Dinner at the new location. Same delicious seafood. Beautiful new location with a great patio. Our server, Connor, was personable and efficient. We will return.
Fantastic service! The food was 3 star and the service was 5 stars. The oyster nacho appetizer was fantastic, we also shared a crab cake that was very good. The shrimp and grits weren’t very good sadly, this was my second day in a row to eat this meal (2 different restaurants) so it was a direct comparison to the other meal, the grits were too mushy, the bacon didn’t have the sweetness that the menu promised and the shrimp had little or no seasoning. If you took a bite with the sausage it was good but the amount of melted butter was just too much. I also sampled a shrimp taco, it was flavorful but overall just okay. I’d gladly return for drinks and apps.
I had the chipotle honey shrimp tacos and they were delicious! Nice cocktail list. The shrimp nachos were inventive. Good service.
The Oysters? I don't like oysters but I'd definitely be going back for these! The other food was basic, but did not stand out. Drinks were really good. Service was fast & food was hot☺️ but those OYSTERS!! SO GOOD
Absolutely amazing service. We had a bit of a rough experience at the start, but we asked a nearby server to take over our table and Rudy did an amazing job! So personable and outgoing. The management was super friendly and made us feel right at home. And to add to the experience, the food was DELICIOUS. Will definitely come here again!
Main issue was the bar tenders hair which she continuously kept pushing it back with her hands.....not good at all when serving food! She was pleasant enough but the pushing of hair with her hands was not pleasant! Husbands shrimp & grits were very flavorful . The grits a tiny bit runny. I had fried oysters, shrimp & hushpuppies all cooked wayyyy to much. I tried to eat but then said to heck with this & showed another server (ours , bartender was nowhere to be found) my food which he agreed that it was way overcooked. Our server, still pushing her hair back brought me new seafood. saying I thought that looked overcooked it when I brought it. (why in the world did she not offer to bring more?) This was much better, however it was the same hushpuppies (size of a large marble were obviously frozen & reheated). Not such a good first visit & impression. Not sure if we'll go back or not.
This was our second visit and we have found this place to be friendly and accommodating every time. Of course the seafood is terrific and the atmosphere is wonderfully boisterous with a bar taking up the front of the restaurant, tables in the middle, and the open kitchen in the back. Everyone always seem to be enjoying themselves and there is a comfortable comradery where fellow diners converse with each other.They have a really good happy hour from 3-6 with $1.50 local oysters. We arrived closer to 8:00. We had drinks until a friend joined us. The service is always prompt and attentive. There always seems to be time to discuss the menu options with the server because they never seem rushed. You are sure to find a dish that will satisfy your craving. Come here and bring a smile, you will enjoy!
Delicious oysters on the half shell and snow crab boil. Our server Rudy was on point and very knowledgeable about the menu items. Can't wait to return soon.
