If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would.Yesterday, June 19th, my brothers and I wanted to treats our dad to a Father’s Day dinner. When we walked in the restaurant and we were immediately seated, and that was the only decent customer service we received during our time there.As stated, we were seated and given menus to look over. Before I continue I want to share where exactly we were seated so those reading can get the big picture. My family and I were seated SLAP DAD IN THE MIDDLE OF DINING AREA, seated a tables away for the fireplace. So, if you’ve ever been to this restaurant you know how central and visible we were seated in the restaurant. We were not tucked off in a corner or behind a wall, we were in the center of the dining area. Mind you, yes it was Father’s Day, but remember we were seated immediately so the restaurant was not overly crowded or busy.So, we are seated, and time passes. 5 minutes…no waiter. 10 minutes…no waiter. 15 minutes…no waiter. And during this time there are two waiter (both white with long brown hair, both wearing trucker style hats, one with a black cross earring in his left ear and another I believe with glasses and maybe a shoulder tattoo) had passed us multiple times serving/delivering food and drinks, and checking on customers. Not once did either of these customer service professional stop and acknowledge us; they did not introduce themselves as our waiter or bring us water while we sat and looked at the menu.Finally, enough time had passed where we refused to seat any longer. So, before getting up and leaving my dad ask the waiter with the earring if I server would be to our table soon and the waiter had no real response. He said that he had no idea we were there/or waiting and he would find our waiter to get us helped. Several things were wrong with his response. One being this young man was the one who told the host when and where to seat us. Two, he had passed us multiple times to assist other customers. And three, even if he was not our waiter he didn’t even ask if needed anything while continued to wait or say he would bring us waters while we waited, he just walked away.So we left. As a said in the beginning of this review it was Father’s Day and we wanted to treat our dad. He has been to this restaurant prior and enjoyed it, and decided that was where we wanted to go on his special day. To say we were disappointment could not fully described how we felt. We felt disrespected and treated as though we were invisible. And I will end by saying this my brothers, father and I are black and most the staff and patrons do not look like us, and it was clear that those who did not go like us received the attention and respect deserved by anyone seeking to pay for stellar food and customer service…take that how you would like.
HONEST REVIEW..This was my 1st time and all I can say is it will become a regular spot. When I say good eats, I mean it. That seafood had my pallet jumping. Blackened Trout, Blackened Catfish($20) substituted Tilapia. Fried Catfish,crawfish, red beans/rice, boil and crab rolls. If you lie your tea really sweet you will have to add sugar. Had bread pudding and Beignets to go. Everything was cooked to perfection!
Catfish was tasty as well as salad, the crawfish not too much, over cooked and not enough seasoning. The shell was so soft the tail of the crawfish would smash up or fall apart as I peeled. Other days the crawfish was great but not so much yesterday. However, yesterday was one of the worst manager experiences ever! The manager was unprofessional, untrained, hostile and lack managerial skills to resolve an issue that was their fault. I was so disappointed because my family and I patronize their business but after what we experienced not anymore. Yesterday our bill was $138 + tip and that was for pickup. I wonder if the owner is aware of the managers unprofessionalism and lack of interpersonal skills. Staff seems to not really care or be invested. As I understand they serve an older crowd but that should not make a difference. The manager spoke to me in the most disrespect way, hung the phone up in my face after making an attempt to resolve the issue to only call me back to change her mind. Expressed that the situation was ridiculous. The only thing that was ridiculous was her lack of skills and professionalism. I hope the owner is aware of this kind of behavior. She can make them lose their business with that kind of an attitude and approach to resolve conflict. Very disappointed with the service. Other people that I affiliate with has complained about the service as well. Look at the most recent reviews compared to 2+ years ago. Something has changed.Oh yeah and the problem was the crawfish and Manger response.
Finally had a chance to visit this place. Food was on point. Service was quick and curious. Will visit again soon.Ambiance is country style and low key.
Excellent food! We were in town for an event and looking for a Sat night dinner that didn’t have an hour plus wait - we were immediately seated. We were very pleased with the food. My husbands salmon was cooked well and he loved the cream sauce! For me, I hate seafood so I went in settling for the grilled chicken. In error, I got the blackened chicken which I’m not a fan - but it looked different than what I’ve tried before so I tried it before sending it back…it was phenomenal - so flavorful (lots of kick too)! Waitstaff was friendly too.
We’ve been coming to Fishmonger’s my entire life- so over 30 years, and it is still wonderful. From the classic dinner salad with house dressing (a must), oysters on the half shell, peel and eat shrimp. stuffed mushrooms- I could go on. If you want great food, amazing service (ask for Paul!) and great ambiance, check out this Plano dining institution.
If I could give this place zero stars...I would. It was our first and last time. We will never be back. The food was absolutely disgusting and I had to send it back as soon as I took a bite. The food is extremely over priced. I could of went to Captain D's for better food and service. I do not and will not recommend this place to anyone.
First time here, great food and service. Waitress was very attentive! Food came out quick, taste great! We will be back to try more food on the menu.
Food tasted old and not fresh. I was really wanting to like this place but very disappointed.
Been coming here for years! The Best salmon and bread pudding in Plano and Dallas. Also try the blackened sirloin burger cooked medium. It’s amazingly delicious with the remolaude sauce.
