those porks chops are seasoned so perfectly, as well as the shrimp n chicken combo. delicious!?? and the crayfish boil..i just get the boiled sausage n potatoes. love the flavor!! great music and vibes here.
This was our 1st time having dinner @ downsouthcajuneats. I must say, we Really did Enjoy our Meal. We ordered the Fish basket & it was Delicious !! The atmosphere was nice & the Staff was Friendly !! Thanks/Roberta ?
We came out on Good Friday waited two hours to only have two meals come out and be told the other two could not be made 10 min before closing because they was out of chicken and couldn’t cook the fish . We drove an hour to try this out the vibe cool but maybe more help or at least have management come around to see what the problem is . For first experience I would say my plate was good but it can always do better with communication on if the food short or can’t be made . Many blessings. But our waitress she did her best n she was everywhere so I have no complaints on her keep shining beautifulToward the end this young lady she fix the meals n gave us a free drink but long wait
Some of the best gumbo that I've had in a long time. I chose the chicken, sausage and shrimp gumbo with some grilled shrimp on the side. Always my go-to when I'm in the area. You won't be disappointed.
Disappointed, The vibes and atmosphere are great. The food is ok. We ordered the motherclucker for brunch, waited almost an hour. I had french toast with mine. Chicken and French toast “extra crispy” ie burnt. Hard as a rock. Tell the waitress and she says let me get the owner. Why? There’s not a process in place for dissatisfied orders except bugging the owner? 5 min later shes still walking around with my plate. And asks if i want a whole new sandwich or just replace those items? Um i had an issue with those items so just replace them. She brings a whole new sandwich out, no syrup, 5 min wait for that. French toast are still super crispy “deep fried” but they need a different batter cause that’s not it. Owner never came. Drinks were good. It seems to be a eat before you come and enjoy the dj type of place.
I’ve been in the area for years and just tried it on a Sunday. We liked the food so much that we came back this evening and it was a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT scene! Sunday brunch is definitely a culture- filled fun time that I’ll come back for. Family time is on all other days. The owners went out of their way to help me out and I’m so happy it’s close to us! This is my first time actually liking a Cajun spot in Austin! Swamp Grits…. Yes, please!!
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, attended just after the outdoor patio was completed, and even on a cold Friday night, they managed to keep the space warm, while still ventilated in case anyone had concerns about COVID protocols.Great service, well-seasoned food! I had the Cajjun Swamp Grits and they tasted great. Will definitely be going there again.
The most tasty chicken, pork chops, burgers n more are served here. Friendly n cheerful staff, great spacious outdoor eating areas. Large screen TVs in places for watching sports, n great music will always be playing to get you smiling.
I had an amazing meal here. Love the flavor. Unfortunately my friend meal came out to late. Anyway I'm planning to go back. It was really tasty food, good ambience and friendly staff.
