We should all be sick and tired of chicken places, but we are not and the concepts keep rolling in. This time it’s Slim Chickens. You would think by the way the concept on the outside looks that it’s a bar and grille. Alas, they only serve chicken with sauce in a combo on a platter, in a wrap or on a bun.Quick tip: stop saying food is high! Everything (As of the date of this posted review) is high at this point. The dollar store stoped selling everything for a dollar a while ago!Back to it. Ordered a 5 Wing 5 Tender combo with fries and medium drink. According to my childhood buddy, the staff was in a mood that was not pleasing. The cashier was not happy about life or at least about being at work. Please help some of the staff! They looked a bit frazzled! The team member that brought us our food…he was nice. Oh! The dining area was cleaner than expected.Good presentation! The platter looked like there were more fries in the order than anything unfortunately that was an illusion. On the wing: BBQ. On the tenders: Garlic Parmesan. Both were consistently wet like a steady drizzle on concrete a rainy day. Liked the added touch of the parmesan grated on top of the tenders. Both flavors were good, though the GP Tenders were a bit vinegary. Fries were good not great. They lost their strength after the after fryer cool down. The four star is for the manager getting into a tiff with a customer who had to wait for almost an hour for an online order! (That really happened) Besides that, this place is well worth a try.
The food is good. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It comes with 3 chicken strips and a nice size Texas shaped waffle. With a nice presentation. The food was fresh and the seasoning on the chicken is not to much but not to little. Meaning you don't get commercial unseasoned chicken. They offer deserts. I wasn't able to get the Jar desert it was sold out at $6 I guess it was good also. The shakes were good. I will definitely eat here again and try other menu options. This is a good spot to get a good meal and satisfy a group of picky eaters. My teen boys wanted to go back the next day and they are picky-picky eaters. They just complained the syrup could have been thicker.
Vibe- There’s a nice ambiance and a good amount of seating. I really like the long table in the middle with the red bar stools!Customer service- Great! The young lady at the register was very patient while I tried to piece my mushroom wrap together ?Food/drinks- They have fried mushrooms on the menu and wraps with meat as well so I asked if I could get the fried mushrooms on a wrap without the meat and ranch. They made it happen and the mushroom wrap was delish!Parking- Good amount, there’s also a drive thru and curb side pick up too.
Walk in to try this place on a business customer's recommendation. SCORE! Greeted by the smiling Caydra and the store manager (didn't catch his name) who cheerfully walked us through the menu and the Summer Happy Hour Special items. Even went back to the kitchen to bring out freshly made strawberry cheesecake served in mason jars. What a great surprise! Who would turn down 1/2 price drinks, sides, or treats? Settled on a Hungry Meal and a Chick Meal. Chocolate shake was AWESOME! Slim sauce -yum, ranch sauce-creamy, cayenne ranch- definite kick. Tenders were FRESH and HOT - TOTAL YUMMY! Thank you Slim Chicken, see you again soon!
While everything was good southern cooking our Doordash order was lacking. I don’t know who to blame, delivery service or the kitchen. Don’t advertise $7 fried okra that says “piled high” when you get a measly 22 bites of okra. A whole rotisserie chicken costs $6 and feeds 3 people.
Fries, chicken and bread were so delicious! The ambiance was upbeat with the music in the background...the different choices of sauces was a pus as well. And oh my goodness! That peach tea, muah!
I got the 8 wing basket (4 garlic parmesan/4 naked). I WISH they offered dry rub flavors (Cajun, tossed in ranch/ lemon pepper). I’mNot a saucy person. ASIDE from that the wings were a decent size. The flavor on the garlic Parmesan was good. My fries tasted like fries ??♀️, nothing crazy. Would I come back - ehhh. Wouldn’t drive across town for them. However the ladies taking your order was sooo nice and even though I had to wait 10 minutes for my food the lady at the window was very apologetic.
The food is good at this place with a variety of offerings for sides, sauces, and dessert jars. The problem I have with this establishment is the inconsistency in their curbside delivery and pick-up options. They’ve forgotten to bring my order out for curbside pickup on a couple occasions (I had to call inside to get them to bring the order out after indicating being outside in the app). The staff also seem confused as to what “pick-up” means as some have told me that it means to drive through the drive-through line to pick up my order whereas today, I was informed that “pick-up” in the app actually means to come inside the eatery to retrieve my food.PLEASE, train your staff on options within the app and what they actually means so they don’t confuse patrons.
Straight trash I risked me getting heartburn.Don’t think they will be here long.Hell I should’ve followed my first mind and went to cane’s although they are very skippy on the fries and there water down fountain drinks. The food has no flavor. The toast taste like it was toasted in Peanut oil instead of butter.Chicken strips are very dry, barbecue sauce is extremely watery as if they are trying to make it stretch the gravy is a watery consistency. The buffalo ranch chicken was very salty.Fries was very stringlike it was cold and no salt.
My first three trips made me go back a fourth. That fourth time was horrible. Chicken fingers were hard and dry and quite chewy. I spit out more than I swallowed. The fries were cold and soggy and they missed my sauce. I love the Pearland cups, though. The fifth trip was because I gave them the benefit of the doubt (everyone has an off-period every once in a while). My fifth trip was a definite hit and miss. I only have five cups. It's not even worth another trip to get another cup to make a set. SAD SAD SAD.
