My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch today since the place was recommended by people we know and from local people as well. You can tell a lot about a Tex- Max place by their chips and salsa and this place had 2 very good ones; my wife loved the green and I loved the red. We both had food with rice and beans and we both loved them, great flavor and they didn’t taste of feel like they had been in a steam table all day. My wife had 3 tacos which she loved. I had 2 beef enchiladas with red sauce, a chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce and a steak enchilada with another sauce; unlike a lot of places, each sauce tasted different and delicious. Service was efficient and very personable. We will be back.
I love this place! The food is always great and the staff is always nice and helpful. They have a ghost pepper margarita that is to die for! Its the right amount of spicy and the right amount of sweet. Tammy, the bartender, makes the best ones! The restaurant also has one of my favorite paintings in the bar. It's a flamenco dancer with a bull. The colors, lines, and movement captured in this painting are amazing.
This place should get 10 stars! From the moment we walked in until we walked out we were very impressed with the staff, the cleanliness, the music was not over powering, and we started with yummy frozen margaritas. We are not from the area but plan on going back as soon as we can. Everyone we spoke with from the hostess who was going to sit us at a table and we asked if we could have a booth and she just smiled and said no problem, to our waitress.. shout out to Tammy! She was awesome. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were generous. The food was very fresh and we normally don’t do dessert but when she asked if we would like to try a sopapilla we agreed and weren’t disappointed. By far the best food we have had in a long time. I have been bragging about this place to everyone.
Don't eat here if you're gluten free. Picked this restaurant because they have several items listed on the menu. However, what they don't tell you is that you can't eat the rice (what?) or the guacamole (what?). I've been to tons of Mexican restaurants and never been told before I couldn't have the rice or the guacamole. Menu of course lists the dishes as gluten free but doesn't tell you that you can't have the sides. Would have went somewhere else had I known.
We got there right at peak dinner time on a Friday night and it was packed but we didn't have to wait long as there was only 2 of us. Super friendly staff and very attentive. One of us had the seafood enchiladas and they were excellent, very tasty with great flavor! The other order was Pescado Santiago which you have to try without a doubt, great choice! The atmosphere was super laid back and friendly even as busy as they were. We will come back next time we are in the area no doubt.
I’ve usually love El Toro but last night was a disappointment I always get the taco salad it’s always been delicious now for whatever reason they are more worried about presentation than the quality of their product when I ordered my my waitress asked me did I want ranch for my taco salad and I said ranch for a taco salad that’s crazy so I asked for a manager the manager came over very rude by the way and said that they changed it because it’s more photogenic I don’t come to a restaurant to look at pictures I come to a restaurant you I spend a lot of money in there usually I have 21 people with me when I come there you guys get $500 at one time So last night my mother my friend and I had dinner $51 for three extra large tacos because that’s exactly what that is very disappointing also there is little to no cheese little to no beans a little bit of meat and jalapeños which I did not ask for I am not happy with it at all I would prefer if someone can give me a contact so today you get no stars if I can help it but I guess you have to have one star at least
Great service, good TexMex food. Clean restaurant. Prices a little high. On 3/20/21 they seemed to have ample staff. 5 Wait staff hanging out at the host desk and kitchen staff hanging out in back parking lot. We had a 15 minute wait for a table for 2 and as we walked through the restaurant there were EMPTY clean tables everywhere. So, why the wait? The lobby was full of people waiting and the wait staff were having a blast. No less that 5 young ladies and one young man. Folks in today's market if you have the front and back of the house staff and an empty restaurant you are loosing $$$$.
Food is usually good, but the prices have doubled!
We were traveling through Palestine, staying at a nearby hotel and had dinner here. It was outstanding from the service to the food, especially our waiter, Terrell. They were very busy but we got our food right away. The green sauce was especially good. Terrell was excellent, very attentive waiter!!
The service was outstanding as well as the food. Three of us ate and we all really enjoyed our meals! Good food and reasonable prices. The chicken enchilada was super!
