My wife and I visited Old River City Cafe while on vacation. We actually ate here twice, I had the smoked Turkey sweet potato and a salad on my first visit. Which was delicious. The second visit I had their chicken tenders gravy and fried okra, again great. We sat out in the back by the water garden under the gazebo with fans. Nice spot on these hot summer days. A very popular spot with the locals, I believe it may have been a salon at one point in its history.
I didn't eat here. I did a grocery delivery here and had to carry all the groceries in through the back door. Which was a lot. Like 5 gallons of milk , 5 big containers of ice cream. A lot of work I did on this delievery. The thing I have to complain about is they didn't even tip. And I worked hard going back and forth to the car to carry stuff in. They had a lot of employees there and the place wasn't open and no one offered to help or say thank you. I felt like it was a very rude thing to do to someone who just carried in a while car full of groceries. Not even a thank you. So I will never go to this place to eat again. And they place looked really dirty in the back. You have all those employee just sanding around, they should do a deep clean on that kitchen .
Always consistent , Excellent food, excellent service , beautiful outdoor seating. Great prices!
Wow. Just wow. This was such a wonderful experience. When we got to the Cafe, it was not busy and we were immediately seated by friendly staff. We chose to sit outside and it was like walking into grandma's backyard in the absolute best way possible. There were so many outdoor games like chess, corn hole and giant beer pong. All the food came out so fast but was also incredibly delicious. Our server was so fun and had some great suggestions. I already can't wait to come back again!
Tried this place recently for the first time... Our waitress was definitely one of the best waitress we have ever had.. soo friendly, helpful, sweet.. I think her name was Claire.I will definitely be asking for her again.All you can eat catfish on Saturdays. Soon good!Can't wait to try the chicken fried steak.
My son and I happened upon the Cafe on a trip to pick up some furniture. I ordered the small hicken fried steak with jalapeño corn casserole and a baked potato. My son had the sliced brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese and we were served warm yeast rolls. We then topped it off with a slice of malted chocolate pie..The food over all was excellent. The baked potato was huge, I ordered the small CFS and I am glad I did it was a good portion.We found zero fault with the food. I want to touch on service though. In these days and times we all know that service has suffered. Seems that everyone is looking for help. I just want to commend the waitress that took care of us. This young lady provided the best customer service that I have has in forever. Even to the point of asking if we would like a complimentary cup of tea to go. We live a good 30 miles away, but will definitely be back. We just kept commenting on how good everything was and how my daughters would enjoy the food as well.Hats off to the cook, waitress, and staff..We need one of these in Kyle, if you ever look to expand.
Love the food! We are always seated quicky, the food is always delicious, the service is wonderful, and it is down home cooking! Great spot for after church on Sundays!
Went to eat dinner here there chicken fried steak was on point . Was surprise of how well service went . Will be going back to try there breakfast. Totally recommend you to eat here !
Solid "meh"Upon arrival, the hostess (?) was complaining about how everyone comes in at one time (about 6:30 pm on a Tuesday night).The burger was unremarkable, the taco salad suffered from large hunks of undercooked beef.Didn't try dessert, some of the offerings sounded good and maybe would go back in the future just for coffee and dessert.The outdoor space out back was quaint - koi pond, lots of seating areas, I could see the appeal of hanging out on a nice night, solid maybe.
Very clean, very friendly staff, great food. Clean restaurants are important to me. Didn’t even see a dust bunny. We were greeted and seated immediately. Ordered our food and it was on the table in less than 8 minutes. Great homemade food, like if someone’s sweet grandmother had cooked. This is our new favorite place. Our waitress was so sweet and did not rush us. We got there 25 minutes before they closed on a Sunday, did not know they closed at 3 pm. We were never rushed.
