This place is a special charm. From the moment you walk up you can feel the charming atmosphere. Such an inviting outdoor Oasis that tells of the great history of the city. Clean, beautiful and historic. As you walk in the charm just continues to follow. The building is well kept, very clean and full of history. The staff is welcoming, friendly and attentive. And even if all that wasn't so, the food is beyond amazing and worth experiencing. Delicious is an understatement. All the different meals were exceptionally tasteful. Everything was good. This has become our absolute favorite spot. From the experience of the charmful atmosphere to the satisfaction of a deliciously prepared meal, you will be glad you tried this restaurant.

This place was great! We came here for lunch after a fun day on the river. We walked in the front and there was a line, but since there was just two of us we were seated right away!Our waitress walked up right away once we were seated and ordered drinks, and she suggested that we try an appetizer so we did, we got the mozzerella sticks! We got our drinks quickly I ordered an old fashioned and it was perfect! the motz sticks were stretchy and delish!We soon after received our entrees i got the Chicken Guadalupe! Amazing flavor! Great comfort food! Flavorful chicken, potatoes, the entire dish is awesome! My wife got the Hawaiian Style Baby Back Ribs which were sticky, tender and fall off the bone!I wish we lived closer, but will definitely visit when we visit the area!
First time visit on a busy Sunday afternoon and we loved it. We were lucky to have no wait to sit on the patio and the views did not disappoint. Food was fantastic with prices that are very reasonable. Cucumber margarita was delicious. Definitely try the fried artichokes. Only con was no vegan options and very little vegetarian options. We don't always want a plain salad. PLEASE look into adding a simple black bean burger or some sort of main vegetarian dish.
Relaxing time, sitting inside with a river view. We started with spinach artichoke dip and drinks. I had a delicious Italian margarita with the perfect taste and served in a nice size glass! We were all pleasantly happy with our entrées of salmon, chicken Guadalupe, and the jumbo shrimp! Our server was wonderful but I can’t remember her name. She even took this pic of us!
Located by the Guadalupe River in famous Gruene, this restaurant serves very down home food in a great atmosphere. Traditional country dishes such as steaks, chicken fry, etc, as well as delicious salads and desserts. The views are lovely. Staff is attentive. They have a bar and plenty of parking and there is public (free) parking available across the street.
Beautiful location with a river view. The appetizers were Soo good. Calamari and Spanish dip were delicious. The wedge salad was so good, we took one to go! You have to try it The petite filet littirally melted in your mouth. The ribeye steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. Only one of two places this year we have had perfect steaks and filets are difficult to cook. The server was very friendly and made sure our selections did not come out on top of each other. The scenery was beautiful and people were friendly. The carrot cake and the creme brulee was awesome! My second time here and has not failed to satisfy in every way. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit.
The food was fantastic!! I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and it was as big as a serving platter! It could have fed three people...ended up taking it home. Tender and flavorful and the gravy was divine. My husband got the special: basalmic rib eye...it must have been 2 pounds! At least 2 " thick and as big as a normal dinner plate. So tender! We took that home as well. Attendant/server was excellent; food came quickly. Excellent location right on the river. Indoor or Outdoor seating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Definitely one restaurant I love to frequent while in Gruene, Tx. The atmosphere of this restaurant is a very relaxing one. Has a cozy large cabin home in the woods feel to it. Makes me feel right at home...lol.The most special part is absolutely the food. I started off with the shrimp wontons appetizer and it is to die for. The salads are also super fresh and tasty. When I visit, I usually get the Shrimp & Grits, Chicken Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, or the Chicken Guadalupe. Those are my favorite menu items. All are very very delicious. The Happy Hour Old Fashioned is a major bonus. The servers were attentive and courteous.I super highly recommend you try Gruene River Grill, especially if you're out on a special date.
So happy to find this spot while vacationing in New Braunfels! Quaint area! Good food with views of the river. The homemade cheese sticks and shrimp wontons were tasty. Our party of six enjoyed their meals, the chicken sandwich, chicken Guadalupe and filet gorgonzola to name a few!
In choosing between this restaurant and the Gristmill, I looked at menus ahead of time due to having a husband who eats only plant-based food, The River Grill has several salads that could work for him and he was very happy. He enjoyed both a Greek salad and their Asia/Oriental salad. I had the Greek Salad with grilled chicken and I must say it was the best Greek Salad I have ever had, Lots of tomatos, cucumbers, pepperocinis, capers (yes lots of capers), red onion, plenty of feta cheese and of course the chicken and romaine lettuce. Great service! We ate on the pation overlooking the lovely aqua blue river!!
