Pains me and some in my family to say this but what has happened? My last two chopped bbq sammies have been terrible. One its over greasy and the bun completely falls apart. It looks like just a big blob of greesy sloppy joes thrown on a mashed down soggy bun. Then chopped bbq was over chopped. It was more like moosh. The taste was off too. The sauce didnt taste the same and the sandwhich oveall was way way to salty. Till i hear things have changed i wll get my chopped bbq sammie at heb. Get this hometown staple back to its roots!
Do not eat here. We drove 30 minutes from San Marcos to get lunch. Drove back home and realized: 1) we weren’t given our chips; 2) there were TWO large black hairs on our sandwich (one of which was right on top, and couldn’t be missed before closing the box); 3) there were pickles and onions on the sandwich we ordered none on, and no pickles and onions on the ones we wanted. Called to speak to the manager, and was told they were only going to rectify my order only if I decided to drive another 30 minutes back to the restaurant. Super unprofessional and unclean. We will never be returning.
I was disappointed with the food. The sausage was good, the sauce was not. The flavor was mediocre, like from a packet. The chopped beef was a little dry and even burnt tasting, considering it was sopped in sauce. The coleslaw was average tasting, not very "German". I expect better from this well-known establishment. Also, had the misfortune of sitting near a very loud-speaking, obscenity-spewing fellow. I suppose he didn't appreciate the food either.
When in New Braunfels this is the first food stop I make. Best BBQ, tacos, guacamole, rice, beans, you name it! The brisket longhorn tacos, so good!!!
I heard this was great BBQ so tried it. The chopped beef sandwich was really really salty. I ordered fries to have with it and they were soggy and barely warm . We also ordered a pulled pork sandwich and chili as a side. The chili was not hot . It was thin and watery. The pulled pork was tough and had way too much sauce. This is not a repeat.
Food is great but sometimes the employees can be rude. I say customer is always right, but some of the employees would rather argue instead of correcting the order.
Love the green beans. The brisket and ribs where ok.
So expensive and no where as good as it once was. Only reason I have them a 2 was the rice was delicious. Lady at window seemed like she wasn't happy to be there and maybe having a bad day??
Good tacos. Need a hotter salsa for the people who like it. Expensive but big taco. The Granzin is mean!
Got the two meat plate. Good portions for the price. Potato salad was a little runny but tasted good. Mac and Cheese was delicious. Brisket had a nice smoky taste and the sausage was good.
