Excellent food, service, inexpensive. Great Mexican food. We had migas and chiliquales on the breakfast menu, served til noon.

We ventured into this small town on our way to S. Padre and what a treat! First of all, the little downtown area the restaurant is in was so cute! Great place to take a stroll. Anyway, food was delicious and the servings were huge and the prices were extremely affordable! We fed a party of 10 with what we usually pay for a party of 4 at the big city where we live! I had the pozole and it was amazing! My husband had the shrimp and streak and it came out sizzling on the platter and was great. The shrimp tasted fresh. The flour tortillas are very thick but have good flavor. Out waiter was amazing as well. He made us feel very welcomed and had us laughing. We will definitely be back during another one of our road trips!

What do I know about authentic TexMex? I’m a girl from the Pacific Northwest. Freshly made tortillas. Generous portions. Homemade fruit Empanadas. Nice wait staff. Close to the water park. I’m sure they don’t need this review, they probably get plenty of business as good as they are.

I have recently used the drive thru twice, both times they got my order wrong. The second time they were confused what i ordered at the pick up window so i repeated my order and when i check it (2 tacos) they had it wrong so they"fixed" it. I left thinking they got it right the third time, got home and the order was wrong. I ordered 2 different tacos, they gave me 2 of the same thing. On top of that, not very good. Won't be back.

Always terrible with drive thru & ordering online. Seems that if they don't know they will just put whatever instead of actually trying to put in the right food. never really remember crunchy tacos looking like enchiladas but not even being made like enchiladas. But that's always when ordering online or just going drive thru. Eating in is pretty good tho, orders usually Always right when you eat in & service is pretty chill.

Let me preface this by saying I've been in the restaurant industry, currently, and for the last 20 years. Ordered bean and cheese tacos and a cheese enchilada plate. It is their dinner shift and ALL of it was microwaved, apparently they only cook during lunch shift then nuke everything at night. The styrofoam the cheese enchiladas were in had a hole through from how long they reheated it. Same with the bean and cheese tacos, tortillas were hard as a rock. Called bc I go there often and spend a decent amount of money only to be told in a nonchalant voice "Oh yeah we microwave it for about a minute to get the cheese to melt!!!" This is not the practice of a good restaurant. Just don't go here, Mexican restaurants are plentiful in this area, skip this one!!

I enjoy their food always fast with your order they forgot something from one of my last orders but they're not the only ones.

PLEASEEEEEE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU EAT,I GOT FOOD POISONING SO BAD I HAD FEVER ?……NEVER EVER GOING BACK!!!!!!! I REALLY WANA WARNED YALL,JUST IN CASE IF YALL HAVE KIDS!!!!

I have eaten here since 2008. I’ve seen servers come and go. But the last “upgrade” was management a couple of years back, this is when they went electronic, raised the prices and the food changed. I still go there, I guess outta habit but they ain’t what they use to be. The best example I have is their menudo. It use to be hearty, taste full and the bowl was filled to complement a hungry guy. Today their menudo is off, expensive or over priced and it’s mostly caldo (soup). I really complain after every meal every time I go there now. It’s a shame. Restaurants don’t go broke, people make them go broke.Good luck!

Tonight was my first time ordering take out at El Tapatio. The moment I first walked in, I was so impressed. The waitress was so kind, service was fast and portion size was generous. Above all, the food was amazingly satisfying!! I am glad I found this gem in the heart of New Braunfels.
