Wow, sides really good. Brisket best I've ever had no doubt or question whatsoever about it. Get you some brisket , while jalapeños, ghost pepper sauce and slaw and go nuts. You could touch this brisket with a tooth pick with no point and it would fall apart. Melts in mouth ?
We had a sampling of the barbecue. The ribs were fabulous, especially with the house sauce! The brisket, chicken and sides were delicious too. The slaw had that old school, sharp veggie flavor. With the rich dressing they use it was so yum if you like that old school slaw flavor.
I was so looking forward to a good barbecue place, so I came here based off the reviews. Lets just say, I was so disappointed. Cons- Let’s start off with the sides, they didn’t really have any to choose from. I decided to go with the cream corn and Macaroni and cheese. They were decent, but they really tasted like it was store brought versus homemade. On to the meats, which is sold by the pound. Very tender but it wasn’t seasoned. So I thought surely the barbecue sauce would make up the difference because this is a barbecue place. NOT!!! All they had was some water down barbecue sauce in the bottle. Kraft barbecue sauce taste better than this. I was OK with the picnic tables, I was even OK with the horrible ambience but I feel like I was cheating because this place was kinda expensive when we didn’t eat the food! Pro- The only thing this place had going for them was their peach cobbler, and the friendly staff. I would not recommend anyone going here if they want a true barbecue experience.
I am from out of town and like to visit locally owned restaurants. The brisket was as good as I've ever had. The sides were very good. The atmosphere was great. The only complaint in my group was the sausage was a little dry. I would recommend the place to anyone.

This was without a doubt the best barbecue beef ribs I have ever tasted in my life. It was juicy had enough fat to give it outstanding flavor. The beef brisket was also a five. Absolutely outstanding. As a suggestion unless you’re just looking for Lean brisket, I would get it with a little more fat cause there’s just 100 times more flavorful. My name is Michael Thomas and I’m from Mena , Arkansas. I don’t believe there’s a beef rib better any worse
I've been to all other Black's in Texas and love them all but I've got to say that this one definitely needs to step it up. I was coming from San Antonio and planned on stopping at the San Marcos location. Which always hits the spot. Then I saw a sign for this location and decided that this was the only one that I haven't eaten at. I should have known when I arrived at lunchtime that the parking lot was empty when normally at other Black's there's a no parking and a line out the door. But I decided to give it a shot anyway based on the past experiences with Black's. I hate to say that I regret it. I was pressed for time so I opted for a sliced brisket sandwich combo with jalapeño sausage. Both the sausage and the brisket lacked Black's signature flavor. The bun was so stale/hard that I ended up transferring the meat in the free loaf bread by the ice dispensers but still something was off. This is the first time in all of the years eating Black's that I left disappointed. I'm giving it 3 out of the 5 stars only because of the usually splendid service and bbq Black's normally provide but if this was a new place I truly would have given it only one.
WOW WOW WOW. If you are in New Braunfels and looking for bbq, don't look anymore. Just drive here and enjoy perfect cooked meat. Everything is delicious from pork, beef to sausages. Sides could be bigger, It won't hurt. Service was fast and polite. Interior pretty cool.
The atmosphere is nice and nostalgic. The food however, was sub par. The brisket was tender but cold. The sausage was not tasty at all. The Mac n cheese was dry and had tons of pepper. My toddler said yuck. The potato salad was not very impressive either. Just disappointed.
Need delicious, mouth-watering BRISKET? When you need true Texas barbecue, stop at Black’s Barbecue. You can’t go wrong with a trident Texas tradition. I couldn’t get to Lockhart, but knew New Braunfels has an easy to get to location.
