Took an excursion from San Antonio just to sample the German food in New Braunfels. Having had some great German food in different parts of Germany my wife and I could not have been more pleased. I had the Jager Schnintzel with red cabbage. Ausgezeichnet! Best gravy ever! She had the Reuben Sandwich and German Potato Salad. Of course, I has a taste. Tastiest Reuben ever! Lots of lean meat. Perfect. Better than any Reuben we've ever had. In Germany or America. Portions were great. Wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Food was very good. This is the first time we have had German food since we left Germany. It was pretty close to what we had in Germany. The only thing we were disappointed about was they were out of all of their desserts. The hostess told us they usually sold out of everything by Friday so that's something to keep in mind. It must be pretty good if they sell out before the weekend! We'd go back here.

Phenomenal dinner, excellent customer service and best brats I’ve had in New Braunfels. Everything I tasted was made with love and heavenly: the sausage, veal schnitzel, sauerkraut, purple cabbage, potato dumpling. I asked and was given pickle slices that were out of this world. Try the sausage sampler, enjoy with a great bottle of wine. Grab a reservation and say hi to Steve!!

This was my first visit to Alpine Haus, and I was greatly impressed. The restaurant is near downtown New Braunfels, and is in a home-like setting. There are German decorations, pictures, and food, of course! The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the German beer was top-of-the-line. I highly recommend!

Food was good. service was good although there were only 4 tables in use. I have not seen a plate charge in quite some time; the $ 7.50 plate charge was certainly off-putting

A quaint place with amazing service and food. Slightly upscale, but still approachable German cuisine. It was Saturday, so I don't know if they always have a Polka playing accordionist, but it was a nice surprise. They bring you a basket of marbled rye bread for the table. I had the Jaeger Sccnitzel with German potato salad and red cabbage. I also had Roasted Garlic soup that came with the meal as well. All of it excellent!I will be going back again to try more off the menu!

Sometimes you have to visit a business and makeup your own minds. We visited this place because my husband wanted us to experience a German restaurant ambiance and food. The waitress that served us lacked customer service skills. We reached out to the restaurant after arriving home from our vacation and discussed the service we had received. The manager stated clearly there was nothing they could do to make up the visit without the owner’s permission. So she left a message for the owner to call us back. Which today he did. To our surprise he was rude and condescending and stated “after digesting the food we had buyers remorse “. He even said it’s like calling the McDonalds owner and saying we didn’t like the fries. That we are wasting his time. Wow! Never did we get an apology for our experience or any empathy about the experience we had. This waitress was rude and lacked people skills. My husband tried asking her what she recommended off the menu, and her response was “why do you care what I like”? Only afterwards to make a suggestion and follow up with “are you happy now”? I have never experienced this type of service. We felt it was due to our skin color as sadly as that may sound. Only for the restaurant owner to call and act a little worse than the waitress. He said customers “don’t pay for service”. We paid a bit over $160 for a bad experience. I won’t advise against going, but for that experience I could have gone to Dick’s instead and had a better experience. Both my husband and I have worked in customer service and have never encountered an owner that doesn’t care about the experience of his paying customers. Just be warned that they care about the revenue, not the customers. Someone should tell them that the customers are what keeps a business successful. We will never step foot in this establishment again. Our children were present and did not deserve to feel this type of treatment.

It's hard to rate this as a German who also cooks her own German food. Let's start with the salads, they usually have a creamy sauce in Germany, they were still good but could've used a bit more dressing. Hubby had the Rahmschnitzel with fried potatoes. The potatoes were really good, I didn't try the Schnitzel but the gravy lacked of flavor. I had the Schweinebraten, which was really dry. In Germany the slices of meat are thicker and it has that yummy crackling crust on the side. It's usually served in a dark colored beer gravy. The potato dumplings were good and authentic. My daughter had the Schweinebraten as well with the Spätzle. The Spätzle were really good. A lot the red cabbage was on point. Our waiter was really cold to the point that it was uncomfortable. Then the bill came. Almost $100 for the 3 of us. 3 meals, 2 sweet tea and 2 beers. I was a bit shocked.

This restaurant is a family operation that is a real gem. The Alpine Haus is set back from the road in a home built only a few decades after Texas was born. The menu was very nice with appetizers and athetic German entres. The fried brie was amazingly tasty. The bread accompaning the brie was marbled and oh so tasty. The sour entrees were large and super delicious. We really enjoyed the red cabbage and other sides.

Adorable little authentic German restaurant with a great atmosphere! I highly recommend calling for a reservation if possible, but they squeezed in our small party on a busy Saturday night. There is an extensive selection of German beers and wines, and pairings are recommended on the menu! In addition, the wait staff is extremely knowledgeable and can steer you in the direction of a perfect beer. The Jager schnitzel was delicious, and it is a sizeable portion! Another member of our party got the schnitzel with the spicy paprika sauce, and really enjoyed it also! To add to the ambiance, the accordian player with lederhosen is a lot of fun and plays beautifully! I highly recommend checking out this charming restaurant.
