Horrible service!!! It truly made us feel unwelcome. My daughters took me there for my birthday, and after waiting for almost an hour we were seated. We ordered water, since it was a very hot day and we had been waiting a while. It took the server over 15mns to come back with “to go” waters, which we didn’t ask for. When we tried to order an appetizer, he said he’ll be back. Another 10mns later we ordered an appetizer, when he brought it we had to wait another 10mns for chips and salsa. We ordered mix drinks, and when we got them they looked like they had been seating out and were melted. He messed up on one of our orders, and never checked back to ask if everything was fine. Will definitely not return or recommend to anyone!
I’m actually kind of sorry to write such a bad review, but man this place has gone bad. They ripped out the playground, and won’t let you sit near the music with food. Those were my only two reasons for going there. The food is OK but this is New Braunfels and there’s better Mexican around. Waited 20 minutes and didn’t even have drinks. The staff was very friendly about it, though. Won’t be going back.
Es cómoda Tex-mex pero en general bastante regular. Más frijoles que otra cosa en el platillo.
Online says they close at 8——but beware that they will close whenever they please.I walked in a little before 7 for a quick dinner with my friend and two young children. After standing at the host stand and not being greeted by any server walking by, I walked inside to ask if I could get a table. I was told that they aren’t seating any parties over 2 as they were closing at 7:15, and sent me away.I can understand being short staffed, but professionalism and work ethic seemed to be non existent.
Don’t waste your time, food is flavorless and the staff is no better. We were seated on the patio and were never greeted by anyone. They sat a party right after us and behind us, they were given chips and had drink order taken and we still weren’t greeted by anyone. Finally asked if we would be getting a waiter after about 15min and were told 3 separate times someone was coming. After another 10min of waiting we Finally get a waitress and we order and all of our food was wrong except for the bean and cheese tacos. The cups were dirty and there was stuff floating in our waters and the chicken was burnt and dry. Overheard the patty behind us complaining about their chicken being burnt as well. This place has gone downhill and one of the waitresses but cheeks were hanging out of her shorts the whole time. When we showed up the patio was mostly empty. We will not be back!
Located on the edge of the tourist district in Gruene, Texas is a fun little Mexican restaurant called the Adobe Verde. Friendly service, though a little slow as they were understaffed and the one waitress had her hands full trying to cover all the tables. Great atmosphere, clean, with an old-time Texas bar feel to it. If that is what you are looking for then you have found your lunch spot. If you are looking for great prices on fantastic food however you might want to keep looking. I ordered two meat tacos with hard shells. Sadly, the finely ground hamburger meat was somewhat chewy and dripping with grease. The hard shells were like the premade ones you find on a grocery store shelf. The refried beans were silky smooth and bland as one might expect from a low priced can of store brand, and the Spanish rice was not much better. The salsa for the chips was actually very good but the chips were crunchy on the outside and gummy on the inside. I am in my late 60s, have dined in 50 states and 8 countries, worked with ranking competitive gourmet cook teams, and love great Mexican or Tex/Mex food. Most chain fast-food, Mexican drive throughs would have been offered up equivalent food.
Horrible. a simple beef burrito I asked for no chip strips in it because I just had dental surgery and the still put the in it. My wife then confronted the ( so call manager) and she just walked away from her saying she was busy ( There was 4 people in the restaurant). Did not get a take out box after we finally were able to pay ( not that we want the extra food poison anyways) , would have given zero stars if I had the option.
Food isn’t bad, but it’s not worth the price they’re charging. Chips tasted like they were out of a bag from a store but I enjoyed the salsa. This is kind of a touristy spot and not a lot of locals eat here because there are better places in town that are more reasonably priced for better Tex-Mex. They’re definitely understaffed but they’re trying their best and that’s very noticeable.
Just a short walk. We were happy to find a place with no waiting on a busy weekend. Prices for that area are also good. Enough variety on the menu to make it interesting. I would go again in the future.
It's hard to be an American. We have to endure soft tacos that were advertised as crisp, poor imatations of nachos that were soggy and listless, watered down avocado. But it's a great location.
