This is a wonderful and unique place to visit. They have incredible food, stellar customer service, and its a great place to unwind after work and just BE. It's enchanting and we try to go often.
Nice relaxing atmosphere. Great service and everything tasted wonderful!
Owner Ben, Chef Brian and the entire staff created a perfect evening for our special family celebration. The Cottage is a unique experience that feels upscale with a warm, relaxed vibe. Can’t wait to return!
I have been twice and had great experiences both times! Saturday night Savannah was our waitress and she hit the perfect balance of taking care of us without hovering. She also recommended the lemon bars which were AMAZING!! (So amazing that when my leftovers accidentally got bussed the chef (or manager?), Brian, noted my distress and hooked me up with extras to take home! Brian, hero in a chef jacket!!) Thanks Savannah!! I cannot say enough good things! We will definitely be back!!!
Wonderful venue for social visits and romantic evenings. The food was perfectly prepared, service was outstanding, and the wine selection was beyond what is typically offered in the area.
This place gets a lot of things right, but the ambitious prices on the menu reflect an establishment that gets everything right--and they absolutely do not. (My last dinner was $200 for 3 people.) What they do get right: ambiance, vibe, overall hospitality including very gracious, if often unavailable, staff. They have thought of everything when it comes to comfort outdoors and creating a cozy atmosphere: heating lamps, umbrellas, rain covers, distance from noise, relaxing music. It's so enchanting (and sorely needed in this town) coupled with the truly delicious food, you can't help but want them to pull through, which is why I returned several times in spite of extremely disappointing wait time with the kitchen always backed up (the staff always seemed surprised by this, though by the third time, I certainly wasn't) and out of everything I ordered. But Cottage, we have to break up for a little while and maybe forever until you get some self-awareness, check your prices, and get your back-of-the-house in order. I've endured my last 3 hour sojourn (there was a minimum of 45 minutes between courses and that is once seated and drinks ordered) there for awhile. Every person's ordered items, the appetizer, the nightly specials- were either no longer on the menu (confusing, as there are FOUR menus in 3 different formats and every server told a different story about the reason for the outages). To wit, we ordered from the menu, but could not get: beets carpaccio, potato soup, asparagus soup, rosemary olive oil cake, and gazpacho. Our server solicited my dining companion to sub sides with his entree without notifying us of the $6.00 substitution charge until we received the bill. On another occasion, our sides were subbed without being told (no matter, they were all delicious), but we were then charged for the subs (we did get this removed from the bill) because the kitchen had run out of the original sides...and oh yeah, we waited over 45 minutes from drinks for it. There are no prices on the specialty cocktail menu, but the $12/drink specials, while delicious and worthy and boozy enough to make the endless wait for everything else a bit dangerous, are all delivered in micro martini glasses. The $16-20 crepes are all fantastic, but one stuffed, thin pancake without so much as a garnish after a 45 minute wait does not befit that price. In short: their menu is writing checks that their kitchen can't cash--and you are literally the one making up the difference. I truly hope the Cottage can clean up their service (or hey! have prices in line with their service!) because the food and ambiance are so wonderfully right and rare in this area, it would be a bummer to lose this place.
A friends son told us about this hidden gem in quaint Nacogdoches, Texas. It’s every bit of a secluded cottage setting with amazing food and decedent wine. We tried several items, wanting to taste everything on the menu! Our server, Vance, was friendly, helpful and perfectly timed our food so we could enjoy everything and not get full quickly. We’re sooo taken with The Cottage that we’re going back tomorrow! Stay tuned for more photos.
OMG this place is the CUTEST!!!!! You HAVE to see it for yourself! They not only serve wine but cocktails as well. We spent a wonderful evening in their beautiful garden! They even had a pianist playing. I can't believe we have something like this in Nac! Have yet to try the food, but if its anything like our previous experience I'm not worried!
Third visit to The Cottage. I had a filet with 3 green beans & very small serving of purple mashed potatoes for $35. I wouldn't complain but 1/4 of steak was inedible with grisly meat. My husband had 5 scallops (nice serving size) with 4 green beans & very small serving of potatoes. Very disappointing meal for me. I did tell a server the steak wasn't great and he just said well they are usually good.. Sad as loved this place first time we went. We loved it so much we went tonight with a gift card from son as he knew we enjoyed before.First visit to The Cottage as new to area. Definitely won't be the last. We had the Sea Bass special and it was delicious. Also the Grilled Ceasar Salad was really good. We weren't sure of the wine we wanted so they offered a few samples. Very nicely done. Overall excellent experience.
Had a great experience for my 30th birthday a couple weeks ago. Food was excellent, great drinks, and our waitress was fantastic. Highly recommend!
