Upon entering it was a friendly environment. Staff greeted and assisted with all questions we had. The food was cooked at a fast pace which was a plus, the only downside was that it tasteless, no seasoning whatsoever. My catfish was very soft, not fried. My kids steak were rough and not medium rare. Other than that it was a nice cozy environment to talk with friends and family.
We went with my brother after he was told they had great food. My brother ordered a steak and my hubby and I ordered the fried steak. My brother said the steak was decent. Our chicken steaks looked good with hand batter. But the meat was a little tough. All our food was on a piece of paper ?? on a pan (the pan was cute. The paper not so much especially when your cutting tough steak with gravy on top. I ended up having paper with my country steak and gravy. The food wasn't what it was talked up to be and the plate situation could be thought through better.
Lousy from start to finish. Had ribs, country style ribs and brisket. When I say dry I mean rock hard dry. The brisket was at least somewhat soft but absolutely flavorless, tasted like boiled beef. Peach cobbler was a sticky pole of burnt crusts. I think I would come back to try the steaks and fish but never again for their BBQ.
Ordered the triple meat combo - sausage, pulled pork and brisket, with two sides. Everything was delicious! In my opinion, the brisket was a bit over-sauced but it was definitely flavorful. Good value for money.
Just want to thank Miguel, the afternoon/evening cook. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My friend wasn't use to "fresh" steak and thought her meat was rare but it was just fresh. However, even though he was going to have to cook it to death, Miguel wasn't going to have an unhappy customer, so he made her another one. She loved it! (It was too well done for me but exactly how she felt needed it).THANK YOU MIGUEL. YOU'RE THE BEST!!
Service was friendly, focused and welcoming in spite of being super busy. I had the sliced beef po' boy and it was less than impressive. Meat was dry and didn't have much flavor and the bun was mediocre at best. But I got to see lots of other food come out while waiting on my wife's order and I will definitely go back for the steaks as well as the fried shrimp! That stuff looked tasty!!
My wife and I go to Nacogdoches quite often and we always eat at CC's Smokehouse. The food is good and the staff is friendly. I only have one complaint. They use some kind of really strong smelling spray to clean the tables and it is so bad and they drench the tables with it that all we can smell and taste is that spray for a good 10 minutes. We noticed two other tables next to us were complaining of the same thing. I think maybe go a little easy on the spray so we can enjoy the good food you serve. Thank you for listening.
What a great find when you're on a road trip. Good thing I opted out of the regular usual restaurants my companion like. The sandwiches were enough food without the sides. And the buns were homemade! Wish I had room for the cobbler. Next trip....Service was also great and friendly!
CC's Smokehouse is one the better BBQ places in a town filled with BBQ places! It doesn't matter if you want a range of smoked meats, a hamburger or a great steak, it is all good. I had the pulled pork today as a break from my usual baked potato with chopped brisket. And since we are in Texas, you can finish with a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream! It is slightly out of the way for Nacogdoches but it is worth finding it!
We were traveling through in our way to Nacadoches, stopped and ordered the BBQ sandwich….Dry, tough and salty….. it was a total waste of money, we are what we could tolerate, we were hungry and don’t like to complain because you never know what someone would do to your food if you send it back and order something else, plus who knows if something would be any better… although you would think so with the decent reviews that others have left. It could just be that their fish and chicken are good?? IDK, will not go back to try. I’m over it.
