My friends and I were really excited about dining here for the Mother’s Day brunch as a couple of them had heard great things about the restaurant. We had a 3:00 reservation that I confirmed beforehand would allow us a 2 hour window to enjoy both the company and our meal. I hate to say that this place was a huge disappointment because I really wanted to love it but it was a disaster! The brunch was served buffet style and as I was standing in line and saw people with plates overloaded with food I thought that I’d like to sample the options first and then return for the things I enjoyed….evidently they must have known something that I didn’t because once the food was picked over or ran out it wasn’t replenished nor cleaned up. It was very disappointing to pay that much money ($55) for brunch yet leave unsatisfied. The cold seafood selection was covered in flies, the dessert table looked like a 3 year old had a free for all, we couldn’t get a drink refill to save our lives, and an hour into the meal they began taking whatever was left (not much) away. The food seemed tasty and I would have loved to have gotten a proper serving and actually been able to enjoy it! Maybe this isn’t the norm as the reviews seem great….maybe special buffets like this just isn’t their thing!
We just moved up to the Montgomery area. I was looking for a fine dining place to take my wife on a date and found the Hodge Podge Lodge. After looking their site over and looking at the reviews. I figured I would give it a try. I have to say it was worth it. I am sure I could find things to nitpick, but I had no real complaints. As we both left feeling as you should after leaving this place, and everyone that works there was a pleasure to meet.
Mother's Day buffet was such a disappointment. $58 per person, packed into a small building out back with barely any room to move, running into people and getting bumped over and over, thinking we were going to eat GOOD for this price at one of our favorite restaurants, the buffet consisted of an omlet station, cold mini waffles (2 left), cold cuts and cubed cheeses (flies alllll over the food), a couple of cold pasta options, some breakfast meats.....the stuff that we came for, lamb and prime rib, were out when we got there and we had to stand in line between tables while people were eating (terrible) to wait for them to bring more....and more clean plates. This was just an epic fail for Chef Jeff. The biggest ripoff and not even close to what we've ordered inside the restaurant. So so so disappointed. $275 later and we are all so mad that we stayed and tried to make the best of it.
First time to dine at this beautiful restaurant. Absolutely wonderful food. I highly recommend the Seafood Fondue as well as the Cedar Plank Salmon. My husband enjoyed the special for tonight, the 14 oz Rib Eye. Our waiter was wonderful. Thank you Corbin " The red headed" young man. We will be back.
Austin made my first visit at the HPL one worth coming back for. I have profound respect for people who are capable of providing a high level of service for their customers. Austin is an Ace, and I will only be back if Austin is on shift. Thank you so much for the best service!
10/10 all aroundEverything I've had from their dinner menu has been perfect. Creamed spinach, au gratin potatoes, and their unique spin on their wedge salad all stand out as my favorites. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu though.Outside allows for the most beautiful pictures. While I have to stayed overnight in one of their airbnbs yet, my husband and I are planning on doing so soon!
I have eaten at HPL many times and have always loved it! The atmosphere is fun and the food is great, plus the owner is awesome! I went today and the hostess, Fran, was incredibly RUDE! My friend who was with me could not believe the attitude from her and the way she spoke to us. Sad to say, but I will eat elsewhere!
This is my favorite place in Montgomery, Texas to eat. The staff, atmosphere, and food is excellent. If you want a spectacular wedding venue this is it. For anyone who loves Hallmark movies, you will feel like you walked on set. It's just happiness.
Great place for brunch! Delicious food and cocktails in an atmosphere with tons of charm.
Website seems to be showcasing some kind of interracial couple to get virtue signaling points. Always a red flag.
