Two stars for the food. I ordered the catfish and shrimp meal, none of which was anything to write home about. Both the catfish and shrimp were heavily floured, with minimal seasoning. We also ordered hot wings, which were hard and seriously over cooked, we tried to eat them but decided our teeth were more important. To order, you must scan a QR code and order via the Toast app. Initially I wasn’t thrilled by this process, but decided it was a convenient way to order. Plus, it made it easier to order additional items from the bar or kitchen. One problem with this method…our server didn’t stop by our table to check to see if we needed anything else. We had to flag down other servers for items, such as eating utensils, glass for beer, napkins, hot sauce, etc.We did enjoy a fantastic concert, and I will return to enjoy others, but would not stop by to eat.
Outstanding entertainment venue for grown folk who enjoy great food, fun, great music variety, libations at a cozy, friendly neighborhood spot. Allie and the other staff are excellent hosts who provide a family atmosphere ❤️
The music and ambiance was great I would give them 5 stars for that, on another note the service and the food was HORRIBLE!! I hate to put down a Black Owned business but they definitely need more work I ordered my food at 10pm didn’t receive it until it was almost time to close 11:40pm, we also asked for a glass of water and was told we’re out glasses when we get some I’ll bring them out, long story short we never received any water what type of establishment can’t give you any water!
Had a great dinner. The food was delicious. We ordered to go. The atmosphere was beautiful and the service was great. It wasn't packed. The food was delicious.
First time attending tonight. Food was okay, drinks, were good, and the Zydeco Band was good. Imagine our surprise to see that a 18% gratuity was added to our bill. Really? We had 3 drinks, 3 appetizers for 3 people. Why not mention in advance that a 18% gratuity will be added. Not good. I’ve been to other restaurants and not get charged a 18% gratuity unless it’s a large group. Did we help pay for the band?
I was disappointed with my food. I ordered Cajun pasta with chicken. The chicken was extremely dry and the pasta itself tasted like someone dumped a bunch of spicy seasoning into jar spaghetti sauce. The drinks came in cloudy plastic cups. There was a live band playing that night that they charge a cover for you to see.The saving grace is that we sat at the bar so our server was attentive and friendly.
Pros - 3 stars for the entertainment. For the first time in about 7/8 visits, service was great. Kudos to the new smiling waitress with curly hair. Cons - guests are encouraged to scan ad pay at the table but are not told there's an additional fee ($1.94 for my order, ~20% of the food price) for that service.
First time being at Sugar’s. I must say it was really enjoyable, it was cozy and very entertaining experience. The Food was great, the staff was very nice and tentative. Not to pricey. Hands free menu that you use by QR code on your on personal phone. If your Claustrophobic don’t attend it’s a up close and personal entertainment. Well worth the admission. Me and my wifey will be attending again in the near future..
We’d come back for the music or comedy(Wednesday s)but the food was average and I did not enjoy my shrimp poboy because the shrimp seemed to be boiled, then battered. Not sure why they would cook shrimp in this manner when the menu said fried shrimp, but it was off putting and gave the shrimp an odd texture. I must add, the shrimp were large and the portion was generous. Also, the fries were decent! The staff were very nice!!
The atmosphere was relaxed. I went there on poerty open mic night (Thursday). The poets were AWESOME! It was a great experience.I wanted something that was not on the menu which was blacken fish. They were so accommodating and made the fish the way I wanted. The food overall was good. The prices are reasonable.I definitely would go again .
