A dining room full of people, one cashier/food runner, one cook, and one young lady managing a dead ice cream counter. Patrons are having to buss their own tables to make room for dessert. The cook and cashier are slammed, food has been stuck under the heat lamps for 20 minutes, just waiting to be served. All the while the young lady stays on her phone and has not moved for at least the 30 minutes we have been here. The cook served us our food! This place is ridiculous...As expected, the food was pretty bad. The beer was good though.
We had our son and daughter-in-law’s rehearsal dinner there on January 7. It was nothing short of amazing! Everything was perfect. The food was amazing, perfect and everything was done better than we hoped. The Pantry worked with us tailoring it to our budget and food restrictions. The service, by all, was incredible. As local pastors of a church, we frequent The Pantry and have never had a less than wonderful experience. If you are looking for a warm and friendly environment with excellent food, visit The Pantry!
Unpretentious. Had the club and loaded fries. Club a little bland and dry. I make better fries at home, very little toppings here. 50+ flavored ice cream.
my favorite restaurant in downtown mckinney! food is absolutely always amazing and the young woman that takes out orders at the front is so sweet! everything always tastes so fresh and amazing! i love the little vibe and architecture of the building :) me and my family’s go to.
The food here is very good and the ambiance is fun. Eclectic a bit. They have homemade pies and ice cream which are excellent. They also are very accommodating on special diets. You can order breakfast weekdays even till 2 pm which I love. It is right in the middle of downtown McKinney so perfect for shopping afterwards. The things I did not like is that there were only 3 different kinds of pie available to take or eat right there otherwise you must special order. That ruins the fun of having a bunch of pies to choose from. Also nobody is at the front of the eatery to tell you that you seat yourself and you have to find a menu and then order at the front and the food is the brought to your table. So the food then did not come out all at once and it was really hard to have a nice meal when half of your party is waiting on their food. I was disappointed in that. It's an ok place. Location is the best part of it as are the pies and ice cream.
If you love true, classic American cuisine then this is the place. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes, fried okra and green beans with also some onion rings I shared with my friend and the chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked, nice and crispy the steak itself was juicy, the gravy tasted real and perfectly seasoned, the mash potatoes were classic with real potato skin left in it and was also decently seasoned, the okra was nice and crunchy and the onion rings were probably the best with perfectly done batter with an amazing taste, the only complaint I would give is the green beans weren't seasoned, just seemed to be warmed up and put on a plate, not actually cooked homemade style, so maybe don't buy those, otherwise everything else tasted good.
Friendly service and cute facility. The menu’s were a little inconsistent with each other so that was confusing. Smelled amazing! Taste mediocre. Chicken fried steak was cold by the time it was served to us during busy lunch hour.
Pretty nice place ! We loved ice cream too
Was so excited to try this place & bring my family members from California to try it. Everyone got their orders except for me, my husband, & my 2 kids but I just thought they were maybe running a little behind so we just waited. 45 mins later my husband went to check on the food and they lost our ticket. Mind you it was our table & 2 other tables in the whole restaurant. The woman behind the counter looked so clueless that THEY had lost our order like we lost it? Horrible customer service & incompetent staff. Will not be back & I hope no one else wastes their time here. They offered for us take our food to go, the whole point was to enjoy the company of our out of town relatives and a nice meal. Pathetic
First time there. Did not try any of their boozy icecream...chicken fried steak was horrible. Not enough gravy for the steak and wanted to charge me extra for more gravy...steak was extremely tough to chew... sweet potato fries are so cinni-sugary they are more of a dessert. Mac and cheese was a joke. More like mac with cloudy liquid, drizzled on top...if we ever go back it won't be for food, maybe boozy ice cream will be better.
