Good service and nice atmosphere. They had great chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and the salad was just the right amount of spicy. The table side guacamole was salty. The entrees were just ok. It looked good but flavors were a little off. The people at the restaurant were so great but I would probably not go back for the food.
I’m a texas girl through and through so obviously I judge a restaurant, especially Mexican restaurant, based off their salsa and that’s where it all began! The salsa was absolutely perfect, had spice but not to much for me at least. Then ordered the table side guacamole…normally we have to add more garlic or salt for it to taste right BUT not with San Miguel’s the guac was amazing and we didn’t feel the need to add anything extra!!! I told my husband “if the food is anything like the salsa and guac were in trouble…” it took maybe 10 minutes to get our food and omg it was absolutely amazing!!! I had the beef quesadillas and a strawberry frozen margarita…the quesadillas were so cheesy and gooey the beef in them wasn’t little tiny chunks but large chunks of steak and cooked to perfection with a slight crisp to the outside of the tortillas but still soft on the inside of the tortillas! The margarita was a PERFECT mixture of tequila to flavoring not to overpowering on either ingredient!!! My husband had the number 7 two beef burritos topped with Queso with rice and beans…the rice and beans had so much flavor in them it was unreal. I didn’t taste the burritos but my husband devoured them in a matter of minutes so in his own way that’s saying they were amazing. Lol. We will definitely be back for future date nights!!! The staff is so attentive and friendly! Definitely better than any chain Mexican restaurant!!!
Always love eating at this down-to-earth, Tex-Mex restaurant! The food is top notch, with many selections to choose from, ranging from light fare to the biggest banquet platter; all at reasonable prices. The servers are always pleasant, happy to describe in detail any dish you might be unfamiliar with. And tonight, my wife and I took our friend, an out-of-towner, to eat here, and the male server, after bringing us our check, said to me "I'm pretty sure I remember you from when our restaurant was in Plano. You and your brothers would often come and eat lunch together. Is that you?" His name was Tony, and he was totally correct! Almost 30 years ago, my two brothers and I ran a family-owned home building company, and indeed, we would often take our lunch break at their former site in Plano. What an incredible memory, for him to see me now, 30+ years older, and with two women (my wife and friend) and still make the connection to me and my brothers! Please try this restaurant the next time you're in the mood for Tex-Mex; they won't let you down!Jon Goodman
My husband and I visited this gem yesterday for the first time. We were very happy with our decision to try it. The atmosphere is friendly and Esther was a great server. The chips and salsa are great, margaritas are spot on, but the main dishes were the best. They had mole rojo on the specials and it didn’t disappoint. My husband had the chicken fajitas. Make sure to finish the meal with a house made churro. Delicious! We will be back soon. Gracias!
Our family has known Arturo for decades first at other restaurants and then happily as he opened his wonderful restaurant San Miguel's over 2 decades ago. His menu is an excellent mix of Tex-Mex favorites and authentic Mexican plates served just as you would find them in the heart of Mexico. Having tried most everything over the years, it's all good! They have an incredible daily margarita special ($3.50 all day in 2021) and you simply can't leave without having one of their "to die for" sopapillas with cinnamon ice cream. You'll go back time and time again!
Enjoy delicious, authentic Mexican food here and support a locally owned/operated business. Consistently good quality food and a long running special on margaritas ($ 3.50 all day a/o 2022) keeps us coming back for years! Arturo has spent his entire career in the restaurant business and has owned/oerated this place for over 2 decades. We had chicken in salsa Verde as well as enchiladas and tamales and they were excellent as always. The guacamole here is delicious as are their desserts and they have excellent bar tenders! Arturo is always a delight going table to table with his genuine hospitality!
Celebrated my son's birthday here, and the food was great along with the awesome hot sauce that I love. They brought out a desert icecream which was very good, and sang Happy Birthday to him. Great place to eat at!!!!
Great food and great service!
We ordered take out meals here and were surprised at the large number of people doing the same, probably because the food is good, the usual comfort food Tex Mex menu. Good quality.
Family owned, great food and service. Excellent salsa. Not fancy, comfortable and relaxed family dining.
