My Wife and I visit Longhorn #5431 quite frequently. This is mainly because of the great service and experience we have there. Manager Jessie Gonzales always greets us, is very friendly and welcoming. Also before we leave, he asks us if everything was to our satisfaction. Jessie Gonzales goes above and beyond to make sure we enjoy our time there. The place is very clean, staff is very professional even when there is a lot of people and we have to wait, it seems to move very quickly. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and seasoned. We will continue to visit and recommend this restaurant. A+++
Steaks were under cooked. Than brought back practically burned. Server did his best. 1 st time there. Not going back. There was nothing special about the visit. Sticking to Saltgrass steak house.
I had been there years ago , and wasn't really impressed . So I just tried it again . Well , it seems a lot of people like this place , it gets super crowded .It is kinda cool that there is a blue ribbon long horn bull in a small pasture in back , for all to see .Also impressive is the fast service .That is why I chose 3 stars . Otherwise it would be 2 .Again , the place is crowded , some people obviously are loving this . But for me , a restaurant can't be a Texas favorite and NOT serve sweet tea . I mean , really ??I chose the two meat platter , granted , it is not expensive at $14+ . But give me a break , I received 3 thin slices of brisket that were about 1 inch wide by 6 inches long , and some ribs that could easily be mistaken with the coals they were cooked on . Potato salad that was pretty good.They give you a hot cup of pinto beans to start that are also good , you better enjoy that because the rest of your meal is room temperature . The brisket was basically dull in flavor , and the BBQ sauce didn't help .Also tried the banana pudding , the flavor was on the generic side if you ask me . We all have to see and taste for ourselves , like I said , obviously , there are a lot of fans .
I'm going to start off by saying that I think Longhorn steakhouse is really awesome. I've had amazing steaks while celebrating many special occasions at the Weslaco location. However, this location in Mcallen left much to be desired. I ordered my usual. I always get the Delmonico ribeye, grilled medium with a parmesean crust.. I've had this steak numerous times at the Weslaco location and it's always so buttery soft, tender, juicy and flavorful. This steak normally melts in my mouth. Well worth the $45.00. This time I sliced into it and proceeded to take a bite. I found myself chewing the same piece for what seemed an eternity. It was definitely not the steak I' love and have recommended many times to my friends. I continued to struggle and after a few pieces I did something I've never done before. I just simply stopped eating my steak. This Delmonico was served medium well. That alone is a crime that should be punishable by law. Our server who was subpar, seemed clueless and oblivious to the situation. How did he not find it strange that a big guy like me, who orders a 45.00 steak, simply pushes his plate forward leaving the steak mostly untouched and uneaten? How do you not address it? He didn't even ask if the steak was ok or even offer me a to go box for the 3/4 of a steak left. He never thought to inquire as to why I wasn't touching it. At this point I called the manager over to give him feedback. Which he did thank me for. However he did not apologize nor did he offer to correct the situation. Even when I compared my steak to someone else's at my table. She also ordered a medium steak. Upon comparing the two steaks anyone could clearly tell the difference. Her steak was perfect. I just gave up. I simply put my paper napkin on my plate and once again pushed my plate forward. There sat 3/4 of their top cut of meat, untouched and overcooked. I basically paid 45.00 plus tip to eat a side Ceasar salad and a small bowl of lobster chowder. I understand that they may be short staffed and that this may have been an isolated event. However the lack of empathy, lack of concern and apparent unwillingness to try to fix the situation has left me with a poor impression of this location. I'll stick with Weslaco. Those guys know how to cook a steak. Mcallen Longhorn Steakhouse you need to do better than this.
Stopped by here with a colleague for lunch and enjoyed their $5.99 house margarita. It was so good, I had 3 with lunch. I recommend the soup and salad lunch portion.
Food was good although when they brought it out they asked what we needed. They never brought it out. Had to eat with no drink or bread cause they never brought it. Waitress brought it when we asked but the manager I believe brought the food and never brought the things we asked for to enjoy our dinner. Won’t be coming back. Texas Roadhouse has better food and prices. Service way better at Texas Roadhouse.
Love it food is always cooked great had a small issue last time I stopped by with a curbside order called and manager fixed it quick
Longhorns is a family favorite. One of my best experiences there was when a waiter suggested something I had never tried before. I didn’t ask him for a suggestion, but he highly recommended the Flo’s steak because I wanted mine well done. He said it would be juicier if I went with that option as opposed to my go-to ribeye. My family joked that he was trying to sell me a higher priced steak. Well, I’m glad I listened to him because I was very pleased with my meal.
Went in to watch world series game 5 & Cowboys game had a few beers and appetizer, realized they were going to close before games were over, then ordered takeout for my meal, ordered chicken fried steak/okra/ friesBut got home and figured out that I was given chicken fried chicken instead of chicken fried steak. Completely disappointed and ended up giving the chicken to my dogs out of frustration.I was sitting at bar, the kid that was working that area seemed to be scatter brained, and not attentive to his customers, So I was not surprised when he got order wrong, guess I should have gone to Logans instead
