ordered the “Don Pepe’s Panchitos” + Fajitai used to come here very frequently especially for celebrations with my family, today is the last time i come. ultimate let down and definitely not what it used to be. service wasn’t as great as it usually is, my panchos arrived COLD! caldo wasn’t good and usually it’s the thing i crave the most from here. I completely lost my appetite with my plate. the beans were in scoops in super small portions on random spots of the chips, with BARELY any cheese. To top it off, the cheese and beans were so cold they would literally just plop off of the chips… The presentation of the dish looked terrible for the price you’re paying you’d expect a lot better. Ate about 2 chips and just gave up on the plate. Wish i could’ve just ate somewhere else instead. At the end when i went to put my leftovers in the to go box you can just see how smeared everything was on the plate as if the process was done backwards. barely anything was left on the chips except the random scoops of beans.
Being that it was Good Friday, we chose not to eat meat that day. We had cheese enchiladas, rice beans and had sweet tea. Nice place, lots of people and I saw lots of workers. Yes, willing to go again!
Very clean and nice doesn't make good food. I had a chorizo and potato taco with a smear of beans. It was a semi-fair taco. We had a barbacoa plate with another smear of beans. The meat did not have that barbacoa texture or flavor. There was no menu available to select dishes from. I was told to scan a code and view the menu on line. Somewhat disappointed.
I was not impressed with their customer service. This is the second time I get Julio. And same crappy service. The food was ok. Would I come back? ….. why….
So this was for a big family feast...we wanted to take my parents out to eat so we decided at this place because of their parrilladas.Honestly the place feels dated ...the chairs, the tables. They have this large private area that is usually reserved for parties however most of the time it's empty, so it feels like wasted space. The service was actually quite good. But we were a party of about 10, which meant a 15% automatic tip for that waiter so who can blame him, right? We ordered the parrillada del Patron....fajita, sausage, tripas, mollejas, and godorniz (quail). They brought out the chips and a small cup of soup as appetizers. The chips and salsa were great starters...really no spice in the salsa but enough flavor. The soup was good...except for the small piece of chicken bone I had in mine. But that is usually my luck....The quality of the meat in the parrillada was quite good...cooked perfectly. The corn and flour tortillas have the taste like fresh out of your grandma's kitchen. I just felt like there wasn't enough sides for the size of the parrillada. The parrillada is quite large so you'd imagine large sides however we had to portion control the rice and beans so that everyone could get some.Plus the place just FELT pricey. It's not a cheap place, I get that...and the parrillada was near $80 on it's own...but then with the automatic tip and each drink individually charged, it basically almost doubled the tab. This place is good...we've gone several times...but I'll give it a few months before heading back.
I love don pepes .. Great food but recently we went for breakfast.. prices went up and the portions was terrible.. my plate barbacoa was cold.. service was not great they had 2 new girls at the bar that were lost.. paid 33 dlls for 2 plates plus the coffee is almost $4.. unbelievable.. they use to serve good portions now they hire prices and portions are way to small..
I purchase a $30 plate food was great but the portions were very low for the price of that plate... customer service was all right are you sure the money up front they will pay attention to you..
Great food, hot and cold salsa, great service. Great atmosphere.
Beware of the high priced ribeye steak!! That 10 oz, $30 steak was ridiculously thin. It was more like a 4 to 5 oz steak. In addition, the rice and beans that came with a separate meal were tasteless and almost cold. The tortillas were hot and fluffy but again absolutely no taste. At least our server was attentive and friendly to us. We will never go back unfortunately. It appears that the quality of food or cooks have declined. Over and out.
Been Driving by for a while and finally stopped for Dinner. Upon entrance my first thought was "why is it so Dark?" granted the table was well lit, but what if I had to wait for a table in this dark room. The food was okay I ordered the enchiladas my dad ordered some soup. neither of us was impressed.THE WORST PART was i attempted to try it again to give it a fair try. we ordered food for a small dinner party the day prior. When I arrived they took 5-10 minutes for them to tell me that it was not ready because they didn't know about the order and that it would be 30 minuted before it would be ready. so I preceded to wait 30 minutes in that dark entrance room.
