Drove from Wallis Tx to Magnolia as a half-way point to pick up my wife and bring her home after she spent a couple of days with friends. She and her pals asked me to meet here and all have lunch together. With on site recommendations, we had a " fried"<--yup-- fried baked potato and some tacos. Excellent, Fresh food. Friendly, Welcoming staff with great sense of humor. Cozy , casual atmosphere. It is an excellent place to grab some good eats.... I'll recommend this place to friends and hope for an opportunity to "MEAT" ? here again.....?
I eat here usually once a week & the bbq is always good. Today I decided to get a chopped beef sandwich with onion, pickles & jalapenos. My sandwich had 2 pickle slices, 3 or 4 pieces of onion & a WHOLE LOT OF JALAPENOS!! It was so hot!! There were 12 to 15 jalapeno slices that I had to pick off the sandwich to be able to eat it. It was very disappointing! I should have taken a picture but I didn't think about it. Beware if you get jalapenos, tell them to put them on the side which is what they usually do, but they didn't today.
So glad we finally tried The Meating Place! My husband enjoyed the 3 meat plate and raved about the ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. My son had been before and picked the chicken fried steak sandwich again and devoured it. I shared the turkey, french fries, and baked potato with my daughter and her friend. The BBQ sauce has a little kick to it and is bomb! We'll be back to try more of the menu!
I bought dinner to take home. I bought a couple brisket sandwiches. They were delicious. As a family we eat at the Meating Place guite often. Food is always great and so is service. I live in Montgomery and we have several BBQ restaurants here. We make a choice to drive to Magnolia and eat at the Meating Place. If you haven't tried it, you should. I highly recommend it.
Waited too long for our order, bought $20 worth of brisket, 1lb sausage and only got ONE slice of bread, ? and the overpriced cole slaw for half filled cup and not even tasty!! Brisket was good.
The Place was clean And the people were pretty friendly I am a local 6 generation Texan food critic with over 75000 reviews and still have not found a good barbecue place in the Magnolia area The pork was very dry and tasteless Without barbecue sauce The brisket was OK it needed more bark from what I could tell a little dry but not too bad The fried okra was out of a bag definitely not homemade tasted horrible. Prices were not too bad in today's market The barbecue sauce taste like a vinegar Based barbecue sauce which is not normal for Texas That's more of a South Carolina style sauce And the tea was kind of bitter This is the 2nd time I've ate here I try to give everyone a fair chance.
Spectacular 10 star foodBrisket was perfect soft and deliciousBaked beans, flavorfulMac n cheese was greatHands down the best BBQ I have ever hadI would have took a picture of the food but I just couldn't stop eating.
Great food, great service, great entertainment. An all around great atmosphere.
Really good! We got dinner to go. I had the bbq beef potato loaded which was fantastic. It's big enough that you can share. Dont forget to ask for extra bbq sauce though. :) My husband had the jalapeno sausage which he loved but it's not for the faint of heart folks. This stuff is HOT! I thought he was going to turn into a fire breathing dragon...lol
Great food with good prices. I recommend trying a stuffed brisket potato or the chicken fried steak. Anything I’ve tried, I have been impressed with. You should try this place out!
