The fish was really good but kinda ran down establishment.
We saw the Catfish King sign from the freeway and had to circle back through side streets to arrive, but it was worth it. Everything was great and just as we remembered from the Corsicana location that closed down years ago. The green tomato and onion relish was great with a hint of jalapeño juice. The sweet tea was great and included in their weekday lunch specials for $6.99. The photos below are of the shrimp and catfish lunch specials.
Always has good food and helpful staff. The place is clean and using safe measures. Price is very nice with expensive to affordable daily specials.
This is my family 's first choice for catfish. The beans and slaw are my favorite. Our only complaint is the fish filets are small.
We have always enjoyed catfish king in lufkin, but the last 2 times have be awful. The older women (with no name tag) took are order and was quite rude over a military discount we thought ok maybe a bad day. Two months later we thought we'd try again same women same attitude and when I asked for military discount she informed us one meal only quite rudely myself and my husband both have retired military ids and never had the chance to show them. We just asked for a little common courtesy needles to say we didn't get so we I told he she was rude and she said that was my opinion. So we left and probably won't be back.
Customer Servuce was AWEFUL!I arrived 15 minutes prior to closing. There was 2 of us that ordered. Only 1 got eating utensils. I asked for ALL TOPPINGS for baked potato. Received NONE.EMPLOYEES were playing while I was waiting on my food. Husbands fish was COLD. When I called back to complain I received excuses about 2 new employees. I believe some training is required!!!!
Courteous staff and fast service but food was lacking a lot. The shrimp taste like previously frozen quick freeze shrimp which adds a bad flavor to the shrimp, hush puppies were horrible with absolutely no flavor at all. On the other hand, the onion rings were delicious.
The catfish was not eatable, the hush puppies were raw in the middle. I've eaten at catfish king for years and never gotten a bad meal untill this time. The catfish was not what l expected, frankly I do not think it was catfish. I had heard rumors that catfish king was not what it used to be, I agree and won't be wasting my money again.
Catfish wasn't as good as it has been before. It was bland and had a chewy texture. Cole slaw wasn't good and I wish they still had the hush puppies that they used to have.
Good little fish place. The service was great. The people working here were friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. The only bad thing was the salad bar was closed
