Amazing flavors as usual, the new Barbaco beef quesilla is absolutely out of this world amazing! 5 stars for sure. Chips amazing, we also ordered the steak fajita for 2. Some of the Meat was somewhat gristle and hard to chew. That why I give the 4 stars on food. I couldn't eat it. And I love UJ's fajitas. All flavors were wonderful to the palate. I think their quality if meat went down a little.
Took daughter here for a quick bite. 1st visit to this location ever. We were seated quickly, waitress arrived within 5 minutes of being seated. Menu was limited for our options as we are both picky eaters. After finding meals we could eat, we recieved the food in a timely manner. Food was good, but we left hungry. Based on choices, quality, and service we may return but in the near future. This would be in top 100 of places for us, however in regards to service it would be in top 25 of Lubbock.
A 3.5 the food was okay. The fajitas are an easy 2.5 our of 5. The chicken felt like it was just a chicken breast no flavor. The steak fajita was like rosas Cafe fajita. The tacos was good the tortillas excellent they are homemade. Camarones a la Diabla was great. The server was awesome I think that is what gave the restaurant a better review. The building was nice can't complain better then abuelos. We had a good time we ordered the piñata dessert well worth the $33 bucks.
Tonight, 3/24/22, my wife and I celebrated our 33 year anniversary and we chose Uncle Julio’s. I had read reviews on this restaurant and was a little concerned; but in my and my wife’s opinions, it was excellent. It depends on your taste and expectations of what you’re looking for when it comes to Mexican food. My wife had the taco salad. When they brought our order out, her taco salad was huge and looked like a work of art with how they had displayed it on the plate. I hade enchiladas and tacos. All was very good. Our waiter and waitress were wonderful. We were given a complimentary dessert, sopapilla with an amazing whipped cream. It’s definitely worth trying and giving it a chance. Like I said, it’s different from most Mexican food places but still very good.
Best beef fajitas in Lubbock hands down! It's great that they are a scratch kitchen because my lady can't have cilantro so it's nice to go somewhere where they can accommodate it without complaint at all. The staff has always been friendly and the margaritas are excellent.

We had heard mixed reviews from friends about Uncle Julio's in Lubbock, but for Valentine's Day my better half decided we needed to try it out. The atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding! We sat in the bar area. Our waiter/waitress was okay. They seemed a little unsure about how to approach guests--especially when circling back around to check on them. We went knowing the prices were going to be higher, but didn't realize how much higher. Once we saw the prices, I think our expectations became much higher. The chips were good. In my opinion, the salsa is not your traditional Tex-Mex salsa. For our entrees, I ordered a chicken tortilla bowl and my better half ordered two enchiladas. The chicken tortilla bowl looked so good. However, it tasted no better than a chicken tortilla bowl one could order at Taco Villa for $6.59 or Chipotle for $8.10 (fast food). Unfortunately, my better half's enchiladas were nothing special for $14.50. For Tex-Mex food, we will stick to The Plaza, Garcia's, Picoso's, Abuelo's, or Albarran's. For more traditional Mexican food, we will stick with El Malecon & El Mitote's. We decided Uncle Julio's is the place to go for special occasions to get the yummy dessert piñata with your family and pass on the actual meal. Sometimes you pay for the name of a restaurant and the atmosphere. I think that is the case with Uncle Julio's.

We had awesome service today from Brenden! We really enjoyed our visit here and he made us feel so welcomed and really provided great service. It was our first time here and we will definitely be back!!
I took my staff here last night for a staff appreciation dinner! I had spoke to the manager a couple days in advance to make the reservation and tell him of the specific time crunch we were going to be in. The manager on duty last night and the server that was assigned to us were both amazing!! We were in and out in the exact time frame that we needed to be; the manager checked on us to make sure everything was going as planned. Our server took such great care of us and was so efficient, making sure everything happened in a timely manner! We all ordered different items and everyone was very pleased with the quality of the food! There are not a lot of places that take reservations so it makes it hard to plan for groups!
